The price over the past few years has made me realise chocolate is not actually an essential foodstuff.
Eta: this article demonstrates my point. No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.0 -

Let's Be Careful Out There0 -
Jordans Country Crisp Dark Chocolate Cereal seems to have gone from 500g to 450g without any change to the box design except the actual weight. I only noticed it when I bought a few 500g boxes really cheap in Farm Foods & when I went to put in my cupboard I noticed the one I had was 450g. I am thinking FF were effectively selling a clearance line.

Tesco KitKat Con...I usually buy 2 or 3 2-finger KitKat x9 packs when I do my 2 week shop @ Tesco. This week I discovered that they have been replaced with x8 packs at the same price (£2.20).The larger x21 packs are now x18. The price has gone up to an extortionate £4.The shelf had yellow labels marked 'New' as if it was supposed to be some kind of improvement.I refuse to pay the new prices. Cheaper to buy Cadbury fingers with a Club Card. When I looked in the local Aldi, they only had x7 packs in stock so you need to be careful when comparing prices. Their website indicates 'no longer available'.McVitie's Dark Choc Digestives Deception...Tesco price for a x2 pack is £3.50.If you buy two single packs it only costs 2 x £1.35 = £2.70 if you have a Club Card..The discount only applies to single packs. Sneaky!Tomato Puree Price...The local Tesco stopped selling the cheaper Tesco brand tubes of Tomato Puree (65p) a few weeks ago.Now all you can get is the more expensive Napolina at £1.20.Luckily Aldi is almost next door. There a tube of Cocina Tomato puree costs only 59p.How does the ad go? "Every little helps!".Ale extortion...Until a few weeks ago, Tesco offered x4 mix-and-match bottles of ale for £7.Now it's £7.50. An increase of 6.6%. That's twice the inflation rate. For some ales it's now more expensive than Waitrose. There you can get 4 bottles of Abbot and/or Speckled/Old Crafty Hen for £7.If it sounds like I am disappointed with Tesco, then you are right.Over the last year my local Tesco (Kingston, Milton Keynes) has downsized from what used to be a large superstore with a huge variety of good value products to just another mediocre supermarket. Many of the Tesco value 'own brand' products have disappeared. The number ot manned tills has been reduced to the point where, if you shop early, you are forced to use the self-checkouts. I only go there now because it's the closest.I think I need to explore the local Asda, Aldi, Morrisons & Sainsburys as alternatives.Even Waitrose now seems to be just as cheap (and better quality) for many items. At Easter time I bought a joint of (Aberdeen Angus) Topside half price at Waitrose and kept it in the freezer.I cooked it just a few days ago: Best beef I have tasted in ages - tender, no gristle and little fat. Far better quality than Topside from Tesco in the past and not much more expensive.1

Nescafe Gold Blend coffee 200 gram jar now 190 grams plus price increase, same applies to 100 gram jar, now 95 grams.
Cadburys 5 fingers of fudge packs, now 4 fingers.1 -
Beware the Tesco freezer meals.
The cheap own brand used to be really good. No weird additives and about 85p. Suddenly the taste changed along with the packet.
I noticed the excellent Cottage Pie was dire. Given a few weeks and the cottage pie in it's original box appeared top shelf at £3.50
Macaroni cheese now doesn't taste of cheese but as a rush meal grating some more in half way through cooking makes it ok when desperate.
Their excellent fish pie vanished. I was told because they don't need two brands ie Admiral mush.
Really?????!!!
PS tomato puree. The cheaper stuff probably comes from China so that's an ethical decision as to which one. Can't talk politics.
Bit of a scandal back along when some got taken to southern Italy to be packed as Italian. Sorted now.
