Inflation  is supposed to have fallen to 2% but I wonder how long we,ll have to wait to see longer toilet rolls again or more food items added to food packets.  The insidious thing is we only ever see the effects of inflation. Nothing ever seems to work in reverse.
when do you ever see a manufacturer add on their packaging "longer length" or "more biscuits now added"!!
But that’s because there is still inflation. Prices might now be rising only at 2% on average (rather than 11%) but they are still rising. Realistically, you’d need deflation to expect packets of stuff to become larger again - so the packets of stuff will continue to get smaller (as a disguise for price increases) but hopefully at a slower rate.

Was in Tesco earlier and all their LU biscuits were £1.
Looked at the chocolate ones (biscuit with a layer of chocolate, much like the Bahlsen ones) andf the box was tiny.  Checked the size and it was 112.5g.

Lu Le Petit Chocolat Milk Chocolate Biscuits 112.5g - Tesco Groceries

Popped into Sainsbury where all their LU biscuits were £2, but the chocolate ones were 150g.

Have they cut pretty much 25% off the size of the biscuits, or do different supermarkets have different sized boxes?

But isn't Tesco still a better offer at £2.00 for 225gm against Sainsburys £2.00 for 150gm?

The packet size wouldn't bother me as long as I'm getting the best value for my money.

True Tesco is better value (at that £1 clubcard price), but they sell it at £1.70 without the clubcard reduction, which is similar to the price elsewhere, but a smaller packet. No one else seems to sell this 112.5g packet, so that seems pretty misleading from Tesco.

For best value right now, head to Morrisons (don't often think that!), the 150g box is only £1.25, down from their 'full' price of £1.70.

Lidl & Aldi do a similar biscuit to Bahlsen Choco Leibniz.

These are 99p for 125g at Lidl and 95p for 125g at Aldi.

Better still go to Morrsons £1.25 for 150g
I agree it's price per gram that counts, but Tesco's have got their size shrunk so headline price is cheaper

Personally, I see many food prices going up at more than 2% but that's an average inflation rate for all items.

Eh? £2 for 225g in Tesco is the clubcard price, they're £1.70 for a packet otherwise.

Anyway what does that matter, get them in Morrisons for far cheaper, or as someone else said, buy the Aldi/Lidl own versions for true money saving 😁

The poster I quoted actually said:

There was no mention of clubcard prices - which was my point to you.
You actually agreed with me that the Tesco price for 2 packets for £2.00 (that is clubcard prices) is better value than Sainsburys offer.

If you have the time and money to trot all over town to get the best value on everything on your shopping list, then good for you.
Biscuits don't feature highly on my money-saving list (that's because I rarely buy them).

There are so many things I just don't buy anymore from the supermarkets; shrinking products is just them looking me in the eye and calling me a fool.
I've mostly changed to Costco, farm shops, and farmers markets; you get better products and honest pack sizes.
