Changed to GreenStar on the 11th Sept 2014. Spoken to them a couple of times and were very helpful.
Only glitch was transfering from SSE they sent final bill for gas when I questioned them about about this they stated they had not received meter reading for electric, contacted GreenStar they stated they had given both readings? It all came right on the 23rd Sept although switch went through on the 11th Sept.0 -
GreenStar have taken the first DD on que with stated figure. They do not take a seperate DD for Gas and electric like SSE but one DD for both.0

I thought I would let you know my experience with Green Star.
They were quick to set up the online account and have collected the first two direct debits. I submitted my final meter reading online on September 1st (First meter reading for them) and have heard nothing from them since. I now have my final bill from Scottish Power which has been estimated because Green Star have not provided any meter readings to them within the 28 day allotted time period.
I will be calling them tomorrow and find out the early cancellation fee. I think it may be £15 or £30. I know they are not one of the major suppliers but I expected better customer service. I submitted another meter reading at the end of September and all there is on my account is the two payments taken by direct debit.
I think I would rather pay a little more and get at least some kind of customer service from a company.June 16 Mortgage Amount £82,896.15
Official mortgage end date August 2027
Current rate 2.59% until August 20200 -
I switched to greenstar on 20th august 2014. ( dual fuel)
I supplied meter readings to the online portal on that day.
3 DD payments have been taken so far for the agreed amount ( fixed price deal).
I received a request for a meter reading which was given 3rd november.
Following that the Online bill generated shows I am in credit.
Received another request for meter readings yesterday. When I queried this they said they did not have a start meter reading.
They said because of this they would have to estimate start reading and that's why they need another reading now.
My question to them ( not received answer as yet) is if they have no start reading and have not estimated one how come they have generated a bill ?
It's not looking good, seems a bit iffy0 -
Problem is now amicably sorted with greenstar.0

I switched to green star from Scottish Power just over a year ago and all went very quickly and smoothly. The website is no frills as it simply tells you what tariff you are on, when it ends, your direct debit amount and total credit/debit to date. You give meter readings online but there is no facility to see your meter readings history. Bills are quarterly (in my case end Jan/ end April/ end July/ end Oct). Giving a meter reading early does not generate a bill as billing is on these prescribed dates only. Bills are generated online for downloading but again there is no facility to find an old bill as only the most recent bill is available to download so if you want to keep a record you need to print them out. An e-mail is sent to request an up to date reading when a bill is about to be raised and again when the bill is available for download. I have built up a large credit (in excess of 500 pounds) however no change in my direct debit has been suggested by Green Star. Also the estimate they have provided for my likely costs in the next 12 months is nearly 50% more than I have used in the preceding 12 months which, bearing in mind I am on a 24 months fixed tariff, is rather extraordinary. Just as an aside, my daughter is with another energy provider for gas and for almost the same period the calorific values applied to my account to convert gas units to kwhs is higher than that applied to her account.(e.g 38.9/39.6 + 39/39.2). As this tariff is no longer particularly competitive, and bearing in mind the above, I am looking to transfer my gas tariff to someone else. I just thought it helps to know how a company works if anyone is thinking of transferring.0

I switched to them in July 2014. So far no problems. Switch went smoothly, bills calculated quarterly. I'm happy with them and saving on average £1 per day compared with previous supplier.
I'm currently in credit but we still have the rest of winter to get through so I'm not desperate to reduce DD.
If I get to the point where I have a large credit and they won't amend my DD I'll simply change to another provider. My experience of all power suppliers is that getting your money back is like getting blood out of a stone so I've always switched at that point then they have to give you your money back. The penalty for switching early is £30 and I'd probably cover that in savings with a new provider anyway.
I'm on electricity only (no gas in my village!)1/1/10 total debt £4,311. Debt today £1,0820 -
I'm pondering switching from npower, had enough!! messing up DD and you name it, now £500 in debt!! Looks like these guys best deal for now, I'm on Price Fix April 2015....If I go ahead been reading not that smooth with npower, so will keep you posted if I do go with Green Star...btw, anyone ever used Utility Warehouse?0
