McDonalds didn't think the pancake supplier was using free range eggs as they claimed, so they were pulled from the menu.
They're on their way back now though.

Years ago they used to make them by hand (I remember doing that) but now they are frozen, defrosted and microwaved.

As OP mentions, they definately used to be made by hand (grill). Honestly

By grill do you mean on one of the flat griddles? because i'm just getting images of your typical McDonalds oik pouring pancake mixture into the grill and wondering why it's falling through the rack.

For the record my local McDonalds sell pancakes.

And now, to sarcasm-proof my post...

Please note: "for the record" is merely an expression and I do not in fact think there is some sort of official record of pancake vs non-pancake outlets that has been compiled and needs contributing to from myself.
