They don't seem to be sending out reminders anymore. I logged into my account and found I had lost £9.50 of vouchers expired only 2 weeks ago. I was saving them up for a bigger purchase. Worth appealing?

Yes. The new 'caring' Tesco has changed its policy, having realised that hacking off and ripping off its regular customers isn't exactly the best way of stopping them defecting to Aldi and Lidl!

If you contact them, they should now be prepared to give you back your lost vouchers.

This policy change comes too late for many of us, though, who discovered long ago that Aldi and Lidl prices are around 30% lower than Tesco's on average for better quality items. That's a rather bigger saving than 1-4% with Clubcard!

Change the record - it's wearing a little thin!

We realise that you have a personal vendetta against Tesco because you didn't use the vouchers before the expiry date.

But those that is not relevant to - MiserlyMartin - whose vouchers expired only recently - 28th Feb 2015 - Tesco have a window of about six weeks to do it straight away, otherwise they need to be sent to Head Office.

MiserlyMartin: all you need to do is call them on Monday.
I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard

I appreciate that as a member of the Tesco pension scheme you do have something of an axe to grind - with the current state of Tesco finances I do sympathise with the plight that their staff and ex-staff find themselves in.

But I make no apologies for repeating the message that Tesco offers poor value by comparison with Aldi and Lidl. Not for nothing did those two supermarkets come 2nd and 4th in Which?'s 'Best and Worst supermarket' survey - whilst Tesco came second from bottom.

There's no personal vendetta - I didn't actually lose any vouchers. But I did think it worthwhile drawing attention to Tesco's sharp practices by creating this thread, and I'm delighted to see that Tesco have had to change their practice on this. Customers have a lot more power than Tesco thought they had - as they've found to their great cost.

Speaking as just one of the Millions of shoppers who go to Tesco and does not use Clubcards, nor has a pension scheme with them. Lidl n Aldi offer certain offers, but never enough to stop me shopping at Tesco, ;)

Give Aldi a try - you might be surprised at how much it's changed lately. They've worked hard at making the range sufficiently comprehensive to allow people to do a full shop there.

We now find we can get more than 90% of all our household needs there at 30% less than Tesco charge, with rather better quality - particularly on meat, continental meats and cheeses. The very occasional trip to Waitrose once every few weeks fills in what few gaps are left.

I have £11.50 worth of clubcard vouchers that expired on 31/5/15 - just emailed Tesco asking that they please revalidate/extend the date on these vouchers - I have lost ££s worth of these vouchers over the yeras as I tend to save up and then I don't realise that they have expired :(

Fingers crossed that my email is read by a sympathetic clubcard service operator.

Shouldn't be a problem - though they can't change the date on the voucher, however what I would expect them to do - is credit the points back to you i.e. 1150 which you'll either see on-line or on you receipt in the next few days.
No problem saving your vouchers, but try to put the oldest ones on top of the pile.

  • Won't be a problem spending our vouchers. We have £9 this year, none spent at Crapco, all at the Tger Station, 4p a litre cheaper. We are just waiting for the £4 off when you spend £20 to make it Roth the effort to enter their empire. That will be it til possibly Christmas.

Anyone know what their current policy is on vouchers which have expired - some of the wife's seem to have vanished over the last few months now!
