    Hi,

been trying to make some money off ebay this week to raise some money so listed some items.

One of these was a canon ink cartridge, brand new and sealed. A buyer bought it for £5 at 1pm this afternoon. I have since (by being nosy and looking at his feedback/items for sale), found that he buys then sells them on at a higher price.

at 5pm, he listed the exact one for auction, and is now refusing to give me the delivery address.

How long are they allowed to take before giving an address. I have over 300 feedback but 299 are purchases.
In what way is he refusing?

Have you been in contact? Has there been communication of some sort in the few hours since the sale?

He has a few days to pay. Provided he pays within the Ebay time limits I don't see your problem. Just send the item to the address on the Paypal payment.

He is quite entitled to do whatever he wants with whatever item he buys from you, including reselling it for a higher price.

How do you know the item he has just listed is the one he has bought from you? He could already have it or have bought it from someone else. There must be countless thousands of identical Canon ink cartridges around.

Totally agree. Although i would love to know how he's used ebay without an address, and may be tempted to contact Ebay - the fact is he has 6 days to pay.

And if a seller harrassed me on the day of the sale, i would see red - and so would they via their feedback.

I think this is a little harsh. It's quite obvious what he's doing. Yes, he can do what he wants with it, but he can't resell what is not his, and at this stage , it isn't his.

Just tell him it goes to the paypal address full stop.

Not quite sure that I get that. It's hardly unusual in retailing to find that a retailer is offering a product for sale that they (a) do not have physical possession of, and (b) have yet to pay for.

what retailers do they will order goods from a wholesaler/distributor ( usually on a pay by 30th of following month) but they do have the goods in their possession to sell on. this ebay user has not paid for the goods and does not have the goods, but has decided to resell goods he does not have or paid for.

I agree that to have both eBay and Paypal protection you must only send the goods to the sellers listed Paypal address and no other address
  • If they haven't paid and you've sent them a reminder then you can open an unpaid item case in our their Resolution Centre 2 days after the end of the auction.

If they then don't pay within four days of that you will get your fees refunded.

Don't see what else you can do. Presumably they will pay they are just waiting as long as they can to do so?

Surely there is nothing stopping the buyer adding his new buyers address as a Gift Address.
Is he actually using your photo in his listing? maybe he has another the same.

    The problems are...

    1. Their item doesn't get any bids and so they decide not to pay for your item. In which case you issue a NPB, get your fees refunded and relist. You are no worse off (other than the delay) than if they didn't bid in the first place.

    2. Their item gets a bid, they pay you and ask you to ship it to their buyer. That won't be the same as their PayPal address. If their buyer then claims not to have received it you will have no protection, even if you sent it recorded. So don't do this. They might ask you to do it, but you don't have to agree.
They either don't pay (see point 1 above) or they pay and you send it to them.

    3. They pay you, you send it to them, their buyer pays them more than they paid you for it, they send it to their buyer. Annoying that a middleman has made money from your item, but that's buying and selling for you. You still have the money that you would have done if your buyer had used the cartridge themselves.

The buyer can add the new buyers address as a "Gift Address" in Paypal, you will still be protected. You will not know whether it is his address or not.
  • yes to get protection, then need to add the address to their Paypal account. As long as the address is in their paypal account then you will be protected, but if they do this take a screenshot of the address in their PP account, just incase as soon as you say its dispatched they remove the address.
