Busy day, very little flying, but been to all the places I needed to be on time. Decluttered old desk chair and another chair bag of stuff to the charity shop.
Still so much to do but dinner beckons first.
Hotspots - kitchen worktop - one end. Dining room where my desk also is and it is all my doing!
LJayne my hubbie is out of the house for work for at least 13 hours everyday and sometimes 14-15. I find not expecting him to be here to help makes it more manageable. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
That's what I wanted to ask, my DD has just started full time school so I have bought her new school jumpers and cardigans with the school logo on after they have been washed they all have bobbles on, is this normal or should I take them back and complain about the quality?
I have washed down the table and chairs, my children are messy eaters.0 -
Evening everyone.
OK I have fallen off the flylady wagon big style this week and it shows. Proof that this system works I guess. I know I am way behind here but my condolences to those who knew Toots, I have come across her several times around these forums.
So, just trying to catch up a bit really. In fact I am off to do the ironing before I crash in front of the telly and then make a list for tomorrow or I am going to spend all weekend doing housework.
Sorry to hear about your uncle lozzy, blokes can be so funny about these things cant they.
Oh and hotspots in my house - the breakfast bar in the kitchen, second desk in the office and the landing all seem to have become general dumping grounds.0 -

edit: just posted a bunch of exercise equipment on gummytree, all in really good condition as bought with good intentions haha got a mini trampoline, step, skipping rope, gym ball and wrist and ankle weights. I had listed at £20 ono but having just had a nose on Argos at full price stuff notice that you're looking at around £100 for the cheapest versions of the above. Anyone got any experience and know if I'd get more for them? I want them gone but at the same time want a reasonable price for them.

Evening all been another busy day here. Went to use the printer this morning and it refused to work (been playing up awhile now). So tried argos but the nearest town didn't have the one i wanted so had to go to the next town. Thankfully wasn't too bad to set up and it's wireless and i can even print stuff from my mobile...:j So it should come in very handy for the charity stuff.
The woman over the charity has offered me a job (paid work), hopefully all will work out as i'm loving the work eventho it is so time consuming. Feeling quite pleased with myself, it's given me a much needed boost even if the house is suffering abit.:o
Plan tonight is an early one and the weekend will be spent flying. Going to do lists up for the kids for during the week and lamanate it so they can mark it off each day, then a quick wipe and we'll be ready for the next day.
Pigpen hope everything goes well for the little girl.

Another nosey question: where are your hotspots?
This is because my dining room was originally the kitchen, somebody knocked through into the coalhouse then split it in two. So you walk in the back door and into the kitchen which is WAY to pristine to dump anything in (yeah right) and to get into the house you have to walk through the DR - so that gets bags, shoes, etc. DD works in the DR because she has trouble sleeping so tries to keep work out of her bedroom (sensible) so her stuff and my stuff and DS's stuff live in there.
I clean it sometimes, home all the shoes and vow to keep it clear...
and don't.
DS wants ME to teach him excel so he can keep track of his finances *glows as is an excel whizz and is chuffed to be asked*

Hotspots: my desk, my office, the kitchen table.
OH's Hotspots: anywhere I've just cleared.
Help and advice, if anyone can. On Tuesday the antiques restorer is coming to collect something of mine for a major repair and something of OH's for a minor repair. They're both things we inherited in a very sad, sorry, broken, dilapidated condition and it's taken us years and years to get around to having them sorted out. The restorer is away on holiday and as a parting shot he told me that I wasn't looking after OH's settle very well (!) and please could I wash it before he came to collect it. It's very intricately carved, OH thinks its oak and it's all but black. The colour could be smoke from hearth fires, cigarettes, old layers of polish, crud, you name it - the one thing it isn't is the colour of the wood. (The back unpolished panels have a reddish tinge to them.)
I ran the scratchy side of one of those spongy cleaners over one section, and the colour of the wood underneath is a lovely warm golden with black streaks, possibly dirt, possibly years of patina. Who knows?
There is no way I can get the black stuff out of all of the carving, so does anyone know if I took that too far back, and should I just use the mild washing up liquid to remove the top layer of apparent filth, or should I have another go at scrubbing it?
Sorry, ETA, Pigpen I hope your daughter's friend's baby's surgery is successful and she heals quickly. I've been thinking about her today.Better is good enough.0 -
I wouldn't scrub it by I would rub it vigorously with soappy water then wipe over with a damp cloth to remove detergent. I'd use MF cloths.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson
