Happy new (after absence lasting several decades) TSB customer :)

Called into nearest branch this morning. Very busy, no appointments :( so said I'd apply online but was also given number to phone for appointment if I changed my mind. Did a bit of shopping & decided to go back to make appointment. Personal Banking Manager said she could see me in 5 minutes.

She opened Classic Enhance 01 immediately & gave me sort code & a/c number. Screen wouldn't give her the option to open 02 & 03 immediately but she said she would try later or tomorrow. By the time I got home, a/c 01 was online. PBM called later to say 02 & 03 were now open.

At no point was I asked how many other current accounts I have (15 + these 3 ). I was asked if I wanted to use the new 7 day switching service, which I didn't - but there was no pressure and no attempt to sell/advise anything else.

    Top marks to TSB :T
  • Just noticed on the TSB website under Enhance they give you the option to open a second current account. When you click the apply button you have to log in. You are then directed to a secure site where you are only asked a couple of questions about your nationality and employment, no other details show on the page before you click the apply button.

How are things at TSB anyway? Are they haemorrhaging customers, or are people flocking to join?

They'll need to pull some business into those 164 C&G branches, unless they're planning to close them really.

good question, i havent heard word of how things are going. and i agree, to make the network profitable they are going to need to offer some incentives, i suspect. i am more than happy to partake:A

Not so sure that it is as simple as that.

Between us my OH and I have (had) 6 Lloyds accounts all at the same branch.

3 have been transferred to TSB and 3 have stayed with Lloyds one of which has been moved to a different Lloyds branch.

ok, thank you for letting us know. i am surprised. and the move to a different Lloyds branch seems surprising to me. you don't mean at your request, i assume.

Checked my TSB account and a second Classic account has been added and I added Enhance to it. So the application does work. Will check in a few days to see if another account has opened as I applied for 2 additional accounts.

All done - got my account and online banking access in branch. They said my other account from the online application will be set up in due course, and I might get another online userid.

Also got soaking wet, the weather is atrocious, lol.

Thank you for this information. Presumably you already have 3 Lloyd Vantage accounts. I am quite reluctant to go to the branch because they have more possibility to ask a lot of questions. Such as :

    - Why do you need so many bank accounts ?
I am not so sure whether it is correct to say that I just want to use it as saving account taking advantage of 3% interest.
I did provide similar answer when I tried to open N&P gold accounts wanted to take advantage of foreign currency withdrawal. When I called them they were asking me this question as they found out from my credit file that I have got more than ten accounts. I said that I wanted to take advantage of zero fee for foreign currency withdrawals but I would also use it as my main account ?. Next question, did you want to transfer your salary to this account ? My answer, "it might be in the future not now ?" Wrong answer. Guess what several days thereafter got declined. Reason. you have not met our strict criteria, which criteria they did not mention.

AND the next question is a killer question

    - How are going to pay £1,000 monthly to each account ?
Sensible people are not going to say I will just shuffle them (or per-mutate) them from my Vantage 1, 2 & 3 go to TSB 1,2, 3 and back again to Vantage (or vice versa)

For the OP did they ask you these questions. If not supposed you were asked these questions what do you think the best generic answers for these questions.

Other people if you could share your valuable opinions. If you were asked those questions. What do you think the best generic answer to increase your chance to get approved ?
