Are Tesco always this aggressive?

Never had any problems with my local Tesco - they refund without any hassle although I do sometimes have to remind them about double the difference.0

Thank you to everyone for replying. I went over today to return the cutlery but it was a different person on customer service and it's already been crossed out on my receipt as refunded when it wasn't, so I left it.
Iif it had been say kettles, or microwaves and it were pounds instead of pence I could understand. But it wasn't, it was tea spoons. It's not like I got 4 dresses marked down to £10 from £30 then went back for 4 more.
I just have trouble getting my head round it that (middle aged) people would go postal over teaspoons.Student loan no morepaid off

I had a bad experience with an aggressive staff member of tescos a few weeks back.
Offer "any 2 for £2" on items on adjoining shelves but they werent part of the same offer. I tried to point out in that case its 2 for £2 (since you have to buy 2 of the same item to get the offer) and the "any" was misleading since its not any 2 for £2, its 2 of the same item for £2.
She kept talking over the top of me to tell me what the offer was and failed to grasp what I was trying to complain about so I gave up and emailed customer services instead!
Originally got a very helpful person, then the next response came from one of those customer service workers who dont bother to read your complaint before then being passed on to someone else who still didnt understand what my complaint was but offered a voucher as a goodwill gesture.
Got home today and opened the letter from them stating £5 voucher enclosed.....only there was nothing enclosed (and envelope was properly sealed with no holes/gaps)! :rotfl:
Not sure whether to email her back again or whether they're trying to tell me they dont want me as a customer! You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

I was taking his forum name literally.
I don't think he's goater. Goater was ppr'd but it was only temporary.
(Just checked)
He still looks in but doesn't seem to post (although he's not marked 'ppr').There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

So when you went to return the cutlery, they wouldn't refund you because the receipt already had "refunded" written on it . That was bad as they hadn't refunded.
Did you keep the cutlery or leave it with them. 'cos if you left it with them, they owe you the money you paid - right?~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Is an actual reaction to my posts, so please don't rely on anything I say.0 -
Every Tesco I go to have some assistants who a) have a chip on their shoulder, b) decide on one course of action despite all their training and customer charter, c) bring attitude into work because of home problems.
Sometimes it's just easier to come back another time when someone more reasonable is serving....... or just wind them up and make their day.The man without a signature.0 -
Thoroughly recommend not going to tes.cos at all. Ever. It just makes life a little brighter each day never having to set foot inside that dung ball of a shop.Sanctimonious Veggie. GYO-er. Seed Saver. Get in.0

They're like that at the big Lewisham Tesco too.
You have to follow them to the shelf or they'll take the SEL off and say you're lying. (I saw them do this) Also they said to me that Tesco don't do double the difference. I don't go there any more.
They still do double the difference, or they do at my local Metro.
Last night I picked up 3 bottles of Strongbow Dark Fruit cider. SEL says £1.00 but was charged £1.99. Lady went to check, brought the label back, entered some details on the till and gave me £5 something back. So the cider was pretty much free. Nice.0 -
In answer to the title of the thread..
Yes they can be but not always.
It all depends who you get on Customer Service, if I have a problem I will argue up to a point but then will get in touch with Tesco directly.
Whenever this has happened they have always been very apologetic sent any money due ie. double the difference, and said they will speak to the store manager about staff training.
I also now always follow them when I have been overcharged and they go off to check the price.0
