Are Tesco always this aggressive?

  • If you read her post carefully you'll see that she goes in that time because it's less busy then. It gets busy around the 7 which is why they then open the till she would like to use. So your suggestion is completely useless.

If you don't want to read moans, wouldn't it be more sensible not to read a forum that is, whatever its title may indicate, pretty much directed to vents and moans, rather then come here, read them, and then whine about it?

So she starts the shop at 6.30am and gets to the tills at 7am. Are you seriously suggesting it is overly busy at 7am? :rotfl:

Surely it's for the customer to decide when they want to shop , not some 'erbert on an internet site?

It's weird that someone on a consumer site would consider the best solution to poor performance on the part of a supermarket would be to cause the customer further inconvenience.

Yes, it is! Queues at every open till, plus a queue at the fag kiosk and at the petrol forecourt!

They open the till when it gets busy. She's trying to avoid shopping when it's busy. So she doesn't want to be there at 7. It seems INCREDIBLY straightforward. Why is that so hard for you to understand?

Of course it is, but they do so in the knowledge that it will not be a 'full service' shop at that time in the morning. It is not poor performance not to have manned tills so early in the morning, it is good business sense.

As for further inconvenience, some people have no patience!

No, they open the till when they have sufficient customers to warrant it. That does not equate to 'busy'. There is a middle ground - why is that so hard for you to understand? :p

There was no suggestion joansgirl 'faffed around waiting' for half an hour, but rather that they went a while later - no great hardship, and no reason to have a great long moan about it.

    Probably because he's French. :rotfl:

Some of the shops over there consider it doing you a favour to sell you something.

Good business sense to antagonise your customers? You have a quaint sense of 'good business'.

Wanting to be able to pay for your shop in an efficient manner equates (in your mind) to 'having no patience)? That's downright perverse.

As you weren't there (unlike the person making the complaint), you can't really offer a knowledgeable opinion. You're doing nothing more than spouting hot air.

We've gone a little "off piste" here. The original post was about a Tesco assistants aggressive attitude. I was just saying that I have also come across this, albeit under different circumstances. If Tesco offer 24 hour shopping they should have the infrastructure in place to deal with whatever comes through the doors, 24 hours. According to my friend who works there, on the tills, there was an acceptable solution to the problem but this woman chose not to take that option and to seemingly make my life as difficult as possible. (The problem here is that Tesco only have one real competitor locally and that is Sainsbury's. And it doesn't matter about "price match" or whatever, Sainsbury's is always more expensive. Plus they don't open till 7am and their car park is rubbish.) It seems that as far as Tesco is concerned customer service is a thing of the past and sadly op's comments don't surprise me. Oh for a local Morrison's!

I had a number of run -ins with Tesco staff, after they lost my photo's and when their optician failed to turn up for my appointment. Their attitude was as though they were doing me a favour talking to me and I was a pain in the neck. They also made up stories that weren't true. Distasteful people.

I decided I didn't need the hassle in my life and I haven't shopped there for about 3 years. Neither have a couple of my friends who I've managed to persuade away.

I now use Lidl for virtually everything (nice & cheap for good basic quality) and Waitrose for some specific items and special occasions. Both stores are equally friendly and helpful.

On the teaspoon business. The price on the shelf was 25p per pack - correct but OP was charged 75p per pack at check-out. Did the Tesco staff refuse to immediately refund the 50p difference per pack then?
If so I would have just left them and not paid the 75p. Maybe OP didn't mind paying 75p per pack. But in which case - why was there a row?

"Any more posts you want to make on something you obviously know very little about?"
Is an actual reaction to my posts, so please don't rely on anything I say. :)
