Enjoying the Sunshine whilst Saving for the Rainy Day

Thanks Kerri
Kids went up at 6.30. I think too much sugar had sent them crazy. Literally. DS1 went up too, probably to avoid the crazy woman downstairs. I also had the thought to take the clothes back, he really doesn't deserve them! But, and there always seems to be a but, he actually didn't have any trousers or jumpers that fitted himI took him to MIL's and his trousers were just above his ankle and a few comments from everyone drew attention to that for me
He had told me last month he needed some but I had spent the budget on other things needed so had to get them really I guess. And there were no extras in there, I told him to put those back before we even left the shop
So clothing budget has gone for the month again. One day it seems to last
 What is everyone else's clothing budget? What would you suggest for a family of 5? Wondering if it's not quite enough, or if i've just been unlucky with all kids having a growth spurt at once!
I've transferred the savings across and have over £2k of my £3k target nowI needed a mental boost after my depressing day. I had a look online and found a plot of land for £28k, if only I had the money eh. I am so fed up of living here not sure how much longer I can do it
Not only have the kids driven me mad but i've fallen out with so many people round here for stupid reasons that I just don't have any friends left (some have moved too, not everyone hates me, promise lol). I bet this makes me sound like a right monster
i'm just too honest, too old to listen to boring idiots, and like to let people know what I think of them. Perhaps i'm destined to be friend-less
I'm catching up on Downton and going to bed for the night, going to listen to a positive thinking meditation! Perhaps i'll be back tomorrow feeling bright and cheery. Here's hoping, eh.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Morning, Thank you all :lovethoug
Well this morning I decided to get my spreadsheets up to date and started with the rental income one (not that that one is ever in the black, the writing is always red and telling me she owes me money!) So I checked and sure enough she owes me £1100 or thereabouts. So I fire up hotmail ready with some sort of email telling her to do one, and there is an email from her telling me she is leaving. Usually I hate those emails meaning that I won't have the income coming from there, but let's face it the income has been pretty much non existent from her throughout her stay so I felt like this instead ---->:j:beer::T:j. I've worked out how much she owes me up to the date she is leaving and it's around £1625, so let's see how this one pans out eh. I've already emailed a management agency so they can collect keys for me and get me a new tenant. Then, i'm afraid i'm doing it the easy but expensive way. I'm handing over all responsibility to them. I can't deal with stroppy ignorant tenants anymore that just don't pay me. I think they realise that I am 400 miles away and think, oh well what is she going to do? So i'm sure the 10-15% that they charge may be worth it. I expect you are all pleased to read this as this is what everyone has advisedI know for sure I am happy writing it even if it will cost me pennies
So anyway on with real life, today I am going to clean up a little. I've ironed all the uniforms for next week so that's done. But i'd like to hoover and have a clean of the kid's toy boxes. The lego and the barbie stuff is all mixed up and it's too much for my OCD. I need to sort everything into it's rightful place, just in time for the extra kids next week to mess it all up :wall: Roll on having enough money to move time.!!!!MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. DFW I seriously dont believe that no-one likes you! You are a very likeable character and come across well on here
.
Oh dear to DS, glad he went upstairs and gave you some peace!! Re clothes we actually dont have a budget. I just transfer to the savings out of every month (although currently it stands at about £50!) and if we need anything we buy out of that. Thats usually the kids as me and DH have our 'spending money' which we buy clothes from.
Hope youre ok today xxMummytogirls x0 -

Hmmm  I budget £100 which I thought was plenty for the 5 of us....but it seems it isn't! Thing is DH & I haven't bought anything that wasn't needed over the last 3 years of our DMP, we've had the odd little splurge here and there but it's usually always from a charity shop, in the sale, from ebay or other means of getting second hand clothes. So our clothes have lasted a fair while but nearly everything is getting to that point where it needs replacing and of course the kids need new clothes as they all are growing. DD can't wear DS1's cast off's for obvious reasons of different sexes and DS2 can't wear them because they are all generally 11 years too big for him. I've tried where I can to buy gender neutral jumpers etc for DD so Ds2 can have them. But do you think he will wear his sister's cast offs? Nope! "she's a girl, i'm not wearing that even if it is blue! Nope siree, no way!" :rotfl:MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Ahh thank you Mummy but if i'm completely honest I don't stand for fools and I am quite blunt about it (rude is what DH would say) and have been a bit of a biatch to certain people....and of course being on an army estate word got round :rotfl:and now everyone avoids me because of a few certain twonks!
I used to do the clothing budget the same way as you on the dmp. I would put £100 in the emergency fund and if we needed anything it came from that. Hence it was always empty

 I hope so! I've got her deposit in a tenancy deposit scheme so am hoping if she's short it's not too much trouble to get it from there??? there is only £525 in there but it's better than nothing and will have covered the mortgage for the last 2 monthsMORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000.
