Oh yes! The food box! It was worth it for meat (at the reduced price! ) but we love our fruit and veg and there wasn't nearly enough! We used most of it on two meals  I've emailed them to cancel the subscription which I thought I'd end up doing anyway

I'll get my thinking cap on for the bulgar wheat  I've no idea at the moment lol xxMortgage Overpayments 2024/25 - September-December, £152.46. J- £103.27, F- £115, M- £91.50, A- £100, M- £200, J- £200. J- £200. A-£200, S- £221.34. O-£200EF- £642.41/500

Treat quinoa & bulgar wheat the same way you do rice. I make bulgar wheat mushroom risotto, substituting rice for BW and it's really tasty. They are both super foods too so good for you. Quinoa looks a bit like couscous when it's cooked

I wrote a post yesterday and lost the whole thing just as I was about to press send! Typical huh! So here I am again

Shopping yesterday with 3 kids was an utter nightmare and I can't wait to go alone if I'm honest. It came to around £117 (around £10 of that was household things rather than food but I included it in there). I made a yummy vegetarian shepherd's pie yesterday too, it was well received by the majority which is good news as I doubled the ingredients and have one sat in the freezer right now
:rotfl:. Tonight i'm going to attempt a Tabbouleh (not sure on spelling?) with the bulgar wheat. I'll let you know if it turns out well
I'm doing chicken thighs for those who want meat with it too.
In other news, today was my first NSD! I completed candy crush (what will I do now ) and my DS1 got an A in his Physics GCSE :j:j:j:j:j I'm super proud
Right speaking of DS1 he's sat watching me waiting for the laptop so i'll leave it here....for now
hope everyone is well :T Mortgage Overpayments 2024/25 - September-December, £152.46. J- £103.27, F- £115, M- £91.50, A- £100, M- £200, J- £200. J- £200. A-£200, S- £221.34. O-£200EF- £642.41/500

I've heard about these lucky boxes but have never seen one on the site - do you have to wait to be offered one / spend over a certain amount?44 day challenge

Ninno I've been lucky enough to get the box a couple of times but usually they're out of stock when I try. There was a link to be informed when they next come back in stock but when I clicked on it it told me there was no spaces left on the list !Mortgage Overpayments 2024/25 - September-December, £152.46. I got a free box of Cobb Nuts last year, and today I made a "free" soup with those, and diced broccoli stalks, using the broccoli water and potato water drained after boiling the veg for last nights dinner.
The Cobb nuts had to be soaked overnight, then I cooked them in the pressure cooker, then drained them and re-boiled them with the other ingredients. The soup was delicious. I love "free" food :-)
Satchmo xWhat would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -
Thanks Lucky I think so too

Satchmo I love free food too! I think we're probably in good company on here :rotfl::money:
So I've just sent the kids into the garden and told them mummy needs 20 minutes grown up time with a cup of tea and some peace and quiet. Let's see how long that lasts, i'm already 10 minutes down after making the tea, wrestling the laptop from ds1 and doing my banking (pretty quick work though by any standards!). They have driven me mad this week. They're cranky, bored, bored and more bored (and lots more cranky). This morning we drove to town for a flying visit to get birthday present for the party we're going to on Saturday. We'd been given a specific list by mother of child so trying to find the correct present was actually driving me mad (not the easiest thing ever...!!) Kids were bored as was I to be fair to them and I managed to get one thing on the list, I got him a t-shirt to make up the price to a tenner and then I suddenly had a thought....we'd missed a party last Saturday (we made a flimsy excuse
it was nearly a 3 hour drive away!!) and he will be there this Saturday so I had to find him something too. Finally decided on that and whilst in the queue I remembered the birthday boy's older sister has a birthday NEXT week  ARGH so I couldn't leave he out either so off I went again and found her something too. I am rubbish at buying presents too and I doubt kids actually ever like what I buy
so even though I resented being given a list it actually did help enormously
. So £29.94 later and we managed to leave town with 6 present :T (2 for each kid).
Got home and my am@zon order had arrived :T which consisted of bathroom things (i'm doing up one room a month on a budget) the budget this month was minimal so I decided to do the smallest room! I have old bath mats and toilet mats that are about 13 years old
BUT they were good quality when I got them so I decided to buy some dye and change their colour along with the hand towels. I decided to leave the bath towels as dye would have just cost too much
shame really as a set would have been nice! Anyway the first lot is in the washing machine now so I hope they come out ok  I went for a black dye in the hope they will come out a dark grey. The bath mats, hand towels are all baby blue or white so hopefully the colour will take well. I put more in than the amount stated though so it would be a lighter colour than black. I'm just hoping there are no tie dye effects :rotfl:. I also found a cheap website where I bought some new accessories and I have a new shower curtain and bin (both needed replacing anyway so perfect time to change colour scheme :T) If I don't need any more dye the bathroom makeover will have cost less than £50 :T I can't change the wall shade unfortunately but the upside to that is it is a cheaper makeover :money:. Anyway will let you know later if it turns out well!
I also have some soap nuts to try out
I have made my own washing powder for a couple of years now but thought I would try these this time around as I've heard good things. If they don't work well I will revert back to the HM washing powder again
So back to school tomorrow. New book bags have been bought this morning (£9 for 2), uniforms all washed and ironed, p.e kits ready to go and free pack up at school (until the servery is ready in 6 weeks for hot dinners- also free :j) So kids will be polishing shoes later and having an early night and wahey tomorrow I will be child free (well until 9.30 am when I go to help my HS family with her kids )!!
Best go DS1 is back downstairs and doing the sitting there pretending to talk to me thing.....what it translates into is " are you finished with the laptop I want to play a game"!!
