  • I forgot to add, i've booked tickets for the circus :D I've never been before and last year we were still in debt when they came to town and we couldn't afford it. So it's all paid for and from a budget for days out so i'll be looking forward to that in a few weeks time :) kids haven't been either so I hope they enjoy it!

  • Morning!

I found the discrepancy between ynab & my account! So all is fine there and i've tried to budget money where I need it for the rest of the month. I had the tax credits early today and child benefit is also due tomorrow instead of Monday so I've sent £75 off to the ISA, £100 off to the credit card and have minimal in the current account to cover expenses over the rest of the week and the weekend (fingers crossed I won't need more than £100 for this as that's all that is in there :D ) I am also due rental income before the end of the month, which is due from today onwards really so I will look out for that.

We have overspent this month so I need to reign in everything as much as possible until pay day. I have £300 outstanding on the credit card I think (need to wait a few days to see what balance is after payments that i've just sent over). I bought the panto tickets on the credit card the other day also but had money in an account for christmas/birthdays so have taken that out. I went over budget because every time I go to my dads we eat out :( literally every single meal. He just refuses to eat in for most of it. I tried once to explain that he has a much bigger income, less people to feed (just him and my step mum) and we struggle to do this. It obviously fell on deaf ears :wall: So 2/3 of our over spend was on restaurants :(. I suppose we did save money on visiting swimming pools (which I've now relocated to the restaurant budget) as he has a pool in his garden. He still wants us to visit next weekend and go on the boat again and camp but I know this will mean eating out in restaurants along the Thames which are pretty expensive. So anyway rant over I will have to find the money from somewhere.

I made an order for a food pack on am@zon local the other day, my first one and i'm awaiting delivery next Thursday for that. Unfortunately I couldn't get any earlier day on the delivery (aside from weekend but we're away). So I hope that the food we have in can last until Wednesday (aside from a little fresh stuff). The pack has meat and fresh stuff in by the look of it so I am hoping it will last a few days ;) It was only £19 and I reckon we can stretch it 4-5 days :).

So anyway kids and DH are at the beach today with some of DH's friends. I thought I would have a few hours on my own so am being super boring and catching up on banking/budgeting and here! Then after lunch I think I will have a nice quiet meditation with no interruptions (been impossible over the summer!) and walk the dog and read my book :T I would have gone to the beach but #1 it's the wrong time of month for me and I would have been grumpy watching everyone else swim but me and #2 Dukie was giving me puppy eyes wondering why we were all leaving with out him :o so I stayed :rotfl: (that dog has me wrapped around his paw :rotfl:)

I hope everyone is ok and has enjoyed summer so far! GCSE results out today so we will soon know if DS1 has passed (think he will get them now when he goes back to school as he's at beach today!) and some of my friends kids have already gone back (Scotland) so summer is winding down now I guess! I have heard of friends putting the heating on already  looks like the challenge to keep it off until Nov 1st starts again ;) I think I might have got to 30th/31st October last few years so not bad going (I always fail on Halloween night as the front door is always being opened and we go out trick or treating and get frozen ourselves!).

Did I mention I was due £150 credit from edf. Well I got £77 back (or thereabouts) and couldn't make head nor tail of the bill?! So anyway my new DD was due to be taken out from new provider on 16th and it's not gone yet? Am wondering if EDF are still supplying me this month. I will wait to see if the DD goes out in the next week but if it doesn't that money will go straight to ISA also.

Right mahoosive post from me ....sorry! I'm off now :D will try and catch up with you all later on your diaries :)

  • Free day out today as we visited two NT places not too far away. We also went to s' bury before 25% off finished and got ds1 some school bits (that he annoyingly told me he didn't need but changed his mind today) also got petrol so not a nsd unfortunately. Used up food in fridge/freezer for dinner so food budget is quite low this month. Clothing budget clearly went out the window though  still waiting on tenancy money which will be after the bank hol now I guess. I'm away tomorrow until Monday evening so I will catch up after the bank hol now....I hope you all have a good one :) xx

  • Hi DFW,

Sounds like you have been having a lovely summer holidays. Shame your father insists on eating out all the time. I'm afraid it would put me off visiting him too often, eating out is sooo expensive.

I have still to get childrens school uniforms and I have NO budget for it . I seem to have managed to create savings pots for 90% of our needs but I missed this one .

I know Ds needs school shoes but otherwise I am hoping that they do not need much. Fingers Crossed.

Hope you are having a good bank holiday xx

Hi there DFW. We've eaten out way too much over the last few days using the excuse of "birthday treat". All stopped now though due to me suffering from infected eczema and going nowhere until I look and feel better.

The Amazon food pack sounds interesting. Great if it lasts a few days. Will have a look at Amazon now.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

Between eating out and paying for petrol to visit him he's bankrupt me this holiday :( Okay not literally but it's really put a spanner in the works regarding the budget (which DH is apparently fed up of hearing about :D) We had a great bank holiday though and that was only one round in the pub and petrol costs (AGAIN RARRRR)

The food thing is due tomorrow I will duly report back and let you all know if it's any good and whether we all need to be on the look out for the next promo :D:p (p.s I'm so glad we're not the only ones to have fallen into the eating out trap!!)

  • Hello

Well it's nearly the end of the month already, it's pay day on Friday and i've just gone through the bank, budget & credit cards and reconciled them all. I wouldn't make a very good accountant I felt like topping myself towards the end (ok bad joke sorry but with 2 kids screaming and fighting I chose the worst time to do it :o even though 5 minutes previous to that they were outside playing nicely!)

We went to the cinema today to watch Maleficient and it was really good :T I really enjoyed it and it was kids club so nice and cheap and I managed to upgrade to the better seats for no extra :T. I treated them to the kid's snack bucket thing too as it's their last treat really this month.

I've had an extra payment from tax credits  and also had my tenancy money finally and also my expenses from my volunteering :T it all came in on the same day so bank was once again looking healthy :D. I've paid off the credit card in full (don't ask how much I could cry) and I've sent across £225 to savings this month in total. Definitely not as much as I could have done but better than nothing I guess.

We would have had £50 extra but I decided to treat us all to a nice organic steak from Sainsbug yesterday :o:D DH appreciated it the most as he'd gone back to work yesterday and was proper grumpy about it. Steak is his favourite so that put a smile back on his face ;).

So last DD goes out tomorrow and I've noticed that one hasn't been asked for so I checked on my list of DD's and it's not on there? really confused me so I will need to wait for DH to get home as it's his phone bill. It's now listed in my "old DD's" section and I don't remember cancelling it?! Anyway the money is in the account for it and there is money for the V1rgin and that is all that is needed. I have a few pennies in my purse and that is all for tomorrow so it will be a very LSD hopefully!

House Savings Pot currently stands at: £10,473.67. I would like to get it up to £10, 500 before September but not sure that will happen now. If DH miraculously doesn't need his Mobile bill money that will go across to the ISA and I might just scrape it but not looking likely atm.

Anyway I best go as DH is due home, dinner is NOT on :o and I have tonnes upon tonnes of jobs to do  I hope everyone has enjoyed the holidays so far ...only a week to push now ;)

Oh did I say I took the kids to cl@rks and they measured in the size we already had so that saved me a few bob for at least a month or so I hope :rotfl::rotfl:

Just popping by to catch up..sorry about all the extra 'dad related spends'..people can be so dense at times cant they. I know he's ill but even so..anyway you're coping well which is the main thing.

Hope the new neighbours are friendly. We have the same issue. However, first contact was fine - think we all spoke outside on Sunday..but in my case I will really miss the old ones..they became very good friends.

Enjoy the meditation when you get the chance ;)
