  • Hello  thanks for popping in everyone :D

Well last night I slept funny as I have woken up with a crick in my neck this morning and only with the help of some co codamol have I been able to move it  'Twas very painful and trying to get kids ready this morning was a nightmare as I couldn't lift one of my arms without crying....haha what a wuss I am :D. I can now move it a little thanks to the tablets but they've left me with a headache so either way I'm not in the best of shapes today :rotfl:

Last night I think I deserved a pat on the back. I put 3 things in my @mazon basket and went to check out before closing the page down (oooooh nearly....) The total was £15 so that was £15 saved! On stuff I wanted but didn't need. To be fair I should have £20 of pocket money a week but I want to save as much as we can now before next year so I can do without on the wants!

I received a phone call from the letting agents yesterday telling me there was a problem with the property I let .......Here we go I thought........ so a plumber is needed to unblock a drain, a new toilet seat is needed, a shower (this was discussed months ago but never happened) and a new mixer tap for the bathroom (or was it kitchen  ) anyway I asked for quotes in writing as I'm tight and don't want to spend money on the property that I don't need to :o If it were a high end rental I would but it's totally down the other end of that so cheap as chips i'm afraid :o:D. I have the rental fund in place but I'm thinking this is about to wipe at least half of that out now :( Boooooooooo!!!

In other money news, I saved £5 on my meditation group this morning, she wouldn't take payment as I was the only one who went so we just had a chat, did a great meditation (which doubled as a reading) and had another chat :D I brought her a slice of cake and she told me to keep the fiver! :j ! Will try bringing cake every time from now on :rotfl: Today should be another NSD thanks to that :T (i've not kept count on them but I think i've had a fair few already this month)

Kids are at school and ds2 yet again was clinging to my leg this morning. I stayed with him in class to help him put his book bag away and watch him write his name and then he tried to leave with me as I tried to sneak off (i'm obviously not very good at sneaking) ...I feel awful leaving him there upset :( and he looks so young and tiny compared to the others on his table.

I've got a wash out on the line and it now looks as if it may rain, I hope not as it took me 20 mins to hang it out thanks to my neck and arm giving me gip  ....Whilst I was out there I heard movement from the (ex) psycho neighbours house! I think we might be getting new neighbours very soon. I will let you know how that goes!

I hope everyone is well and I will try and catch up on some of you now :)

  • Well I've cancelled the v1rgin :T It finishes early October so now I need to find a replacement for the broadband & phone line and also a freeview box. V1rgin said they would send a box for me to return all their items :rotfl: how tight are they! Whenever I've had sky (which has been lots of times over the years) they've never asked for their box or router back .

I've found lots of deals with cashback on but there seems to be lots of clauses in the small print meaning i can't get it :( Mostly because I will need a new line fitted so therefore it means I am unable to claim it. Guess I will just have to look for the best deal overall and forget about the cashback!

  • Morning DFW,

Wow well done you on cancelling your V1rgin TV. We have SKY and its the one thing we have NEVER managed to kill off.

I am sure there must be lots of good deal about with Freeview boxes, but guess it takes time to sift through the small print to make sure you don't end up with extra costs.

I hardly ever get to the bottom of my washing basket either, and if I ever do, I seem to relax for one day and then its all piled up again. Never ending!!

I am amazed at your willpower with Amazon. I was only thinking the other day they I ought to remove my Bank account details from Amazon & Ebay, so stop me impulse buying.

I heard Dave Ramsey talking about it the other day. They call it the "Friction Free purchase". These clever companies have made it sooo easy for us to "One Click" and its bought.

We don't experience the Friction of having to find our purse and enter the details anymore, its gives us no time to have doubts or think it through and then cancel the purchase.

Amazing that you managed to stop yourself. Well done :T

    I must try harder :o

    Have a lovely weekend xxxx

Removing bank details off would definitely save me money - it is so so easy just to click ok as you say now off to remove them :)

  • Yep me too SLM
  • Ooh what a good idea removing bank details. I have been given £10 off AND £5 cashback if I register for a bay of e account with my 'other' paypal. I am tempted to do so, but actually still refuse to find my usual purchase of face cream and buy it for an equivalent £1 because I don't 'need' it yet :rotfl:

I should open a new account though. My old one has been hijacked by Him and his football cards.Time to start afresh.

    Thanks for the push guys!

  • Oooh hello everyone  Do you know I think you're all right about removing the bank details...that would be the best option....BUT I just know I would end up putting them back on again because I buy so many essentials on there :o (excuses excuses I know!!). Since I last posted I have spent £25 +£10. £25 was on a deposit for a photo shoot in November, I have to pay £100 on the day and I will get a cd with pics, a dozen (i think?) christmas cards with our pic in and choice of greetings etc and 3 framed pics. I thought that was a pretty good deal and I don't have any professional pictures of our entire family yet. The £10 was on today's expenses, a few grocery bits, sandwiches whilst out for kids & drinks. I parked and walked into town so parking was free, as was the entertainment today :T Lots of stuff was free as it's heritage weekend so we visited the castle and also the stalls in the park that were free (not much there though, may have been free but they tempt you in with bouncy castles, food & drink and other raffles all costing money! I was good though and didn't spend anything!) We actually walked the 10 mins out of the park to go get the sandwiches as the food was so expensive in the park today :eek:.

I've been feeling very tired, weak & dizzy again :( I've noticed this always comes hand in hand with "that" time of the month so am wondering if it is a touch of anaemia. Am sure I mentioned this before and said to myself that I would go get blood checked but I never did as it only lasts the week and then I forget until the next time :o.

Money wise I think the bank is looking rather bare but we are due lots in over the next few weeks so I think I will have to borrow from a fund and pay it back. We have food until Monday but I don't think it will last much longer.

I've sort of got myself a new volunteering position within the same charity. I am now a project co-ordinator which will hopefully look good on my cv :) I spent Friday morning calling/emailing & writing letters to generate interest in our new project :T

DH is making the dinner today and tomorrow I just can't muster anymore energy today :( That walk from the car to the park (30 mins) and then back again (and all round the castle and park) has done me in. I'm shattered :o and I had over 14 hours sleep last night too. My dd went to bed after me !!!:rotfl:

Hope everyone is well I will attempt to catch up with some of you now :)

  • Just posted on Penny's diary and it reminded me of 2 other payments i'd made over the last day  I am too forgetful!

£175 on swimming lessons (seems only the other day I was paying them for last term?! This was budgeted for though so just taken from the right fund) and I've written a cheque out for £49 for a school trip for ds1 that needs paying straight away! The thing is with this they think it will be over run with applicants and they can only take a certain number so names will be going into hats, but those in the rugby team or who play sports for the school are given first refusal. DS1 is sports captain and plays rugby so I am assuming he will be given a space, I had best find a fund to steal from in the mean time :o xx

  • Just to add about the freeview box if you have an old sky box it works fine as standard freeview :) Virgin doesn't but the kids both have sky boxes used as freeview boxes in their bedrooms. For a while that's what I used downstairs and had Now TV but I cancelled that because I use Amazon Prime.

Just a heads up incase you do/don't have to rush into getting a freeview box until you decide what's right for you :)
    Time to start again :o
