what an absolute b***h. Does she not realise that it refers to ALL servicemen. Not just those from 1939-1945. I do hope that you are going to be able to stop working in the same place as she is, because she must be truly toxic. Anyone who is stupid enough to voice those opinions when a quantity of customers do not, does not deserve the job.

If you will be able to stop working there when you move I hope you will be able to let HQ know her behaviour. I suspect that they will not be in favour of it. Even if only from a publicity point of view. It will not reflect well on them - especially if they are one of the companies that do not pay their share of tax.

Your views are the same as mine and tempting as it is to let you write in to HQ nothing would be done. If anything the whole shop would be punished. Certainly, the manager would do nothing to the culprit. They would just laugh about it and give the rest of us a hard time.

Once I have moved I will continue working there for a couple of months until I know exactly what my outgoings are, then I will probably hand my notice in. I will also start looking for another full time job as I don't like working evenings.

Must get a move on, the traffic on the way to the day shift is horrendous!

  • Hope silence means that all is busy but well, Piq and that no news is good news.

All is well, thank you for asking. Just nothing to report except working and sort of packing. My life feels like it is on hold at the moment and I have little enthusiasm for anything :o

A week today is move day  There is still a fair bit to pack, but most of the stuff is still in use. I will pack work clothes after Saturday [last evening before move :T] Plates, washing things etc will be done the day before. I have a two man task force for the Monday, who will remove all pictures and help with the final packing.

I went to look at the new place today, there isn't too much to do. I will have to get a plumber in to put in plumbing for the washing machine as well as an electrician to put up an outside light and someone to put up shelves in the large broom cupboard. All are essentials and I hope to get them done in the first couple of weeks.

The buyer hasn't made anymore contact nor have they paid for the things they want me to leave. I suppose I'll have to send a gentle reminder - sigh....The solicitor got the wrong amount on the transfer of deeds document and still hasn't sent the revised version, despite it being urgent...

I'm really struggling against feeling very down about moving. It's a new beginning, not an end. I think the tiredness and stress is what is making me low nothing more.

Asking the Universe to send great wafts of energy your way. It is such a frustrating time, so much to be done, but so little that can be done until the day. I seem to recall that when we bought things from our sellers at this house that we sent them a cheque so that they could have it cleared in good time for their removal day (we took over the house on completion, but did not move until our buyers bought ours a couple of weeks later). So perhaps you will need to chase

Sending you lots of positive thoughts for the next couple of weeks.:D

  • wishing you moving energy and a safe move to your new home xx
  • I too wish you well Piq. Yes, it is stressful but at least Colin will be well cared for so not your immediate concern. Just remember not to pack the kettle, teapot, mugs, tea, coffee, sugar, milk, biscuits and a teaspoon as removal men 'expect'. When we last moved into an incomplete barn conversion, our buyer had not even put a deposit down or signed anything and I had an imminent tax bill of 17k and no funds to clear it. The removal men came at 8.30am and asked me if I was 'ready' - I tearfully said NO - the boss man's response was 'chuck her in the van'. My wonderful old cat was so distressed he went out and got me several presents! When we got him to the barn and he 'clocked' the half dozen bullocks outside the window, he hid under the woodburner for four days. But, the sale went through, the tax bill got paid and the cat lived to 21. So chin up.

  • Healing vibes into the moving universe from here too.

Moving house is one of the most stressful things you can do for both you and colin but you'll be in before you know it.

And give your solicitor a kick up the butt and the buyer. Make sure and wear pointy shoes and your best smile.

  • Stressy it is indeed but this time next week you'll be IN! If the Transfer doc is the one for the new house don't panic too much - the most important thing on that is that the seller must have signed a correct version before completion, so long as that's been done don't fret about whether you've signed it or not - your solicitor will worry about that bit.

Seconding comments about not packing kettle, tea bags and mugs, but s0d the removal men - YOU'LL be needing a cuppa yourself! ;) (Oh, and pop to the poundshop and get some disposable cups and plates rather than using "real" ones on the day - I know it's not eco friendly but do you REALLY think you'll be wanting to wash up in the middle of moving day?)
