EH, lovely to see you posting here, I always enjoyed reading you . That Notes app is really useful, isn't it?

Something I've started to do with my phone is to take photos of web pages or documents rather than printing/ copying them/ writing down details if it isn't absolutely necessary.

I have too many 'useful but not vital' pieces of paper and needed to find a way to get organised. My phone saves to the hard drive every time I plug it in to the USB on the pc so there is another copy of the photo there too.

:hello: Lovely to see you too - I'm wandering back on here occasionally. Worryingly I'm still working my way through a stash of toiletries too - but I did eventually get to the end of the shampoo & conditioner! :D

There is a specific scanner app available for the iPhone - GeniusScan it's called - means you can essentially photograph docs etc at higher resolution. I usually find taking a photo works perfectly well though! :rotfl:

For most things on your laptop if you go to print you can print to Microsoft xps. That then gives you the choice of where to save it to. Great for docs such as downloaded insurance policies, works with webpages as well as long as not too big.

    Great news Piq :T

I'd never of thought of any of this. Thank you! Why did it not occur to me to take photos? or to create PDFs and Genius Scan looks just the ticket it is downloading as I type!

I'm trying hard not to be in a flat spin, but I am starting to revolve:eek:

I have several lists up and started, worryingly, they are already huge. On the essential companies to contact there are twenty, including gas, electric, council tax, insurances, DVLA, banks, water, TV licence, pension and work. Any ideas of what I might have missed?

I haven't started on the ebay, amazon type of company yet

I've picked up a mail rerouting form, I'll fill that in later.

There is a box in the bedroom where I'm chucking essentials as I come across them, this will go in the car so I know where it is.

Colin now has his Feliway plugged in and going, with a refill for when we get to the other end, hopefully this will help him to stop hissing every time I walk past him with a box. My mum has bought him another four boxes of cat food pouches, not bad considering he's only staying the day :rotfl:and a hair brush!

The electrician has been and I now have the necessary certificate for the electricals, apparently some work needs to be done to get it up to date with current requirements. However, according to my solicitor now contracts have been signed this is the buyer's responsibility :T

Hope the Fe!iway works for Colin. Your Mum isn't considering cat-napping is she? If so, the hair-brush is guaranteed to stop him transferring his affections, no matter how much posh cat-nosh she tries to tempt him with! :rotfl:

Ooh - from someone on the other end of the equation; thanks very much for the heads-up! Will make sure all such queries are dealt with before autographing the contract! :T

You can do it my dear. When OH and I moved 11 years ago I was waiting to go into hospital for a hernia operation and could not lift a thing. Our new house should have been ready the end of February. At the beginning of March our cash buyer wanted us out with 10 days notice or he was pulling out of the sale. It was horrendous, we had nowhere to go, nowhere to store our stuff and little time or money available to us with a young teenager to look after too.

at the last minute a family friend offered to rent us their deceased parents house until ours was ready. OH came straight off 2 night shifts to move the entire house, mostly single handed, to the new location 6 streets away. I did what I could, on my birthday of all days and we worked like Trojans for 48 hours solid.

On the last day, (he wanted us out by midday) I had to make a rubbish bag out of plastic and tape so I could empty the vacuum cleaner. The house was handed over empty and spotlessly clean. He turned up in a transit, removed one box and a binbag, placed them by the front door and spent the night in the local b&b before driving the transit 200 miles to pick up his stuff. He actually moved into our house 4 days later.

We had asked for an extra 2 weeks as OH was going into a 10 day break from the night shift. When we got to the rented house we lived out of boxes and bags so we could move into our new house with ease. We just couldnt face going through all that again.

The new house wasn't finished until June and I went into hospital a week after we moved in. We did have a bit more notice and OH had help but it really isn't an experience I'd wish to repeat

Howdy robin and granny [insert smiley wavy here, they've disappeared :(]

Mum is so excited at having Colin to stay, you'd have thought he was royalty :rotfl::rotfl:He'll be much better treated there than here, he won't need to be catnapped he'll volunteer to stay.

Granny that's a horrific moving story  I'm glad my one is not as bad.

I've just filled in the council tax moving form, not exactly straight-forward, but I didn't expect it to be as it's the council!

Last night of evenings, I'm yawning away, think I'll need a coffee before I go. I haven't done too much today. Tomorrow I will have a day of getting on with it and hopefully clear a few more boxes and a few more moving forms.
