Just keep clinging to the fact that the stresses will subside rapidly once you are in and can set about making your new home how you want it (or how Colin wants it!)
In a week or so you'll be wondering what to do with yourself!0 -
Chin up Dearest Piq,
I am sure all will be fine on the day itself and you can revell in the feeling of being debt free. You will be another to add to our list of "Friends" on here who have managed to reach that miracle milestone.
Are you moving very far ? I may have missed that info on your diary when I was AWOL.
Hope you have lots of help on the move day itself as well and it all goes smoothly .

Just remember not to pack the kettle, teapot, mugs, tea, coffee, sugar, milk, biscuits and a teaspoon as removal men 'expect'. When we last moved into an incomplete barn conversion, our buyer had not even put a deposit down or signed anything and I had an imminent tax bill of 17k and no funds to clear it. The removal men came at 8.30am and asked me if I was 'ready' - I tearfully said NO - the boss man's response was 'chuck her in the van'. My wonderful old cat was so distressed he went out and got me several presents! When we got him to the barn and he 'clocked' the half dozen bullocks outside the window, he hid under the woodburner for four days. But, the sale went through, the tax bill got paid and the cat lived to 21. So chin up.
Hello again! That scenario sounds a nightmare, it makes my move sound very simple indeed. I fully expect Colin to live under the bed for three weeks after the move, only coming out to eat and, hopefully, use the litter tray.EssexHebridean wrote: »Stressy it is indeed but this time next week you'll be IN! If the Transfer doc is the one for the new house don't panic too much - the most important thing on that is that the seller must have signed a correct version before completion, so long as that's been done don't fret about whether you've signed it or not - your solicitor will worry about that bit.
Seconding comments about not packing kettle, tea bags and mugs, but s0d the removal men - YOU'LL be needing a cuppa yourself!(Oh, and pop to the poundshop and get some disposable cups and plates rather than using "real" ones on the day - I know it's not eco friendly but do you REALLY think you'll be wanting to wash up in the middle of moving day?)
Good idea about the paper cups, I'd never have thought of thatI must keep my removal men topped up with tea, they might down tools otherwise :rotfl: The removal mean are DS1, 2 and 3. Otherwise unpaid labour.... I have bought instant coffee today ready,it's normally on my shopping list as I am a cafetierre sort of girl, but I'm not risking that on move day...I'll wait to buy the biscuits in case I accidentally eat them before Tuesday

I have completely given up on any sort of grocery budget, way over this month already! The kitchen has been cleared all that is left is the microwave, so it's microwave meals until next week. I cleaned the oven so don't want to mess it up. Microwave meals are not great, but will do for now. I also seem to be getting through a lot, and I mean a lot, of medicinal chocolate
Forgot to contact the buyer, may well send her a text from work later. I've dropped the solicitor an email but heard nothing back. I'm going to continue on as usual.
It's been cold here so I've had the heating on all day, again, budgeting out the window. From next week I will be making new budgets and will start saving money rather than paying debt, it will be very strange at first I think.Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Good luck with the move Piq. Won't it feel great when your saving rather than struggling. I'm sure it will feel a little strange to begin with but wonderful to be saving towards something positive like bringing the Captain home
