Skint_but_Optimistic wrote: »Bless your Colin! He isnt a tiger on the tiles as some are, however there is room for non hunting cats in my opinion - I have a couple who dont aspire to catch anything bar the odd butterfly or if they are feeling inclined, a leaf.
I did have an incident when I was a teenager at my parents where one evening, it was dark and misty and I was in the dining room. I could see the cat hunkered down and intent on the patio. The noise eminanting from the patio was a squeal. It was a a very disturbing noise and I was scared of what I might see when I put the light on. I imagined a childs beloved guinea pig or something... but no. It was a toad. The cat had his head on one side, studying it. Occasionally, he would bop the toad on the head, at which point the toad would squeal! I rescued toady and dragged the cat indoors.
Mind, he wasnt the best hunter I had. While I was on holiday once my parents had to have my back door removed. The reason? My cat had tried to drag a badger in the house, failed, rigor mortis had set in and my parents were faced with an immovable badger and a pair of trapped cats when they called to feed them.
Anyway, sorry for cat chat.
:rotfl::rotfl:snorting with laughter about the dead badger - sorry :rotfl::rotfl:Funnily enough I always tell Colin that he can't go out after dark as he'll be eaten by badgers. I can't see him bringing one home somehow :rotfl:Thank goodness.
One of my previous cats, Einstein, caught a frog once. They do squeal horribly and they emit some sort of secretion so that they taste horrible to predators. I remember watching Einstein trying to spit the taste out of his mouth. I don't think he ever tried to catch another amphibian.'Morning Piq, :hello:
Hope the cough is going away by now (have you made yourself some Amazing MSE onion & honey Cough-Cure?).
:rotfl: Oh, bless dear Colin! ..What a lucky mouse to escape an aerial predator [presumably], and then to encounter a pacifist cat - he'll be squeaking that story to his offspring for the rest of his life!
I have a small problem at the other end of the scale; think there is a centipede - one of the alarming orange and black striped ones - living in Clever Dog's favourite armchair..
Every few days she wakes me in the middle of the night, obviously "hunting" eagerly as she digs into the cushions..
Must wait for two strong visitors to arrive at the same time so they can turf that chair outside; meanwhile the only remedy is to make CD sleep on my end of my bed (and keep a hammer handy in case this six-inch-long creepy-crawly ventures into the open - despite Buddhist principles am not happy about sharing our home with a venomous insect!).
:eek: to the six inch centipede. Not sure how I'd cope with that. Once had a mouse take refuge in the sofa, years ago. Had to remove it to the garden for the mouse to escape. But a centipede that big ...Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Oh yuck and double yuck! There are some advantages to not having a cat flap anymore. I boarded it up when the Bear became ill. Colin doesn't know it existsThe moral of this story is: never come downstairs in the morning without wearing your slippers!!
Couldn't agree more!Pippilongstocking wrote: »And I thought slugs between the toes were bad. Ewww.hope you're on the mend lady!

Whilst I realise you are up to your armpits in 'moving' and possibly still trying to shift your cold/flu/lurgy thing, I just wanted to pop in and wish you a pleasant Sunday away from the w**k place.
Don't know if you'll be able to spend time having brekkie with your dad, or a cuddle with the Captain. But I do hope you manage to have some 'down' time and make some 'Piq' time. You need it and you deserve it.
Kind regards,
Greying
Thanks Greying
No down time yet. Today has consisted of:
Breakfast with Dad, concerned about him, he's very down about dialysis.
Wrap and arrange courier for three sold items on eb@y
List two more items
Change bedding
Pack four more boxes of stuff
Chuck two sacks of stuff that has to be considered rubbish
Carry two huge bags of books to Oxfam
Clean off the bookshelves in the living room
Vacuum everywhere, the buyers are coming to view again and I want them to buy a few bits and pieces
Sort some more stuff for eb@y
I miss the Captain terribly. But a lot of this rushing round is to get him home again, so it is worth it in the long run. He emails me at least twice a week with pictures of him and Noah. Normally they are pictures of him eating :rotfl: My friend has laminated two pictures of me and they are tacked to the gate of his field so he can kiss me as often as he likes!Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Been missing a couple of days again, purely because of work. Friday I worked a lunchtime shift and evening shift. Yesterday I worked a straight 15 hours, no break  However, I am paid for the extra time, there and then, and the money does help.
It has to be said I am very tired, quite lightheaded, but I need to carry on sorting stuff out for moving. Not that I've had time to chase on a date yet.
Tomorrow is coffee shop day and I know the hellcow is working with me
I have just had a soak in the bath and am already in my pjs, looking forward to a slob in front of the television all evening, no guilt whatsoever :rotfl:Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Not that I've had time to chase on a date yet.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Could you not have a sick day tomorrow?
No, not really. You get put on warning for taking a day sick at the coffee shop. A bit unfair really. This never-ending work cycle will finish once the move is over and I have reduced outgoings. I must just soldier on for the time being.Chase who on a date? 1/2 mast trouser man?
:rotfl:If only you could see him, you would probably plow through me in your hurry to make him yours.....:rotfl:
Bloomin' heck the last thing I want at the moment is a romance, couldn't take the stress of waiting for the call that never materialises :rotfl: Anyway, I'd probably have packed the phone!Buffythedebtslayer wrote: »Just a quick check in Piq, hopefully you are enjoying the tv

Hiya Buffy! The fifteen hours shift was because of a special event that was on. As there's only two of us that work there with one part-timer, there was little choice. These events are once a quarterBut being paid the overtime straight from the till was nice!

I should have added that the overtime earned over the weekend will sit in the bank account. I want to build up a weeks wages float to permanently sit there. I am paid weekly, but it doesn't necessarily arrive on the same day of the week, sometimes it doesn't arrive for four or five days  Mind you, it does always arrive, then I have to get it paid into my bank account. That's why a week's worth of money would be a safety cushion.
Something tells me I ought to be getting ready for the coffee shop stint, I need to leave early to pay the overtime and a Z@pper cheque in. I'm still waiting for payment from MusicM@gpie, it would have been nice to pay it in altogether rather than separate trips
Once I return I'll list another couple of items and pack a minimum of two boxes. The last bag of clothes is waiting to be collected as are the three eb@y parcels packed yesterday.
I'll also clean out a couple of cupboards now they're empty. Surprising how grubby they get insideTotal debt at October 2008: £67,213.30
