....and a round of applause to Colin :T:T:T:T Just when things are stressful enough, he manages to get some sort of insect bite and scratch it raw. £45 later, he is much better. As you've guessed a trip to the vet was involved. Straight after work, a run in, box up the cat and dash round to the vet to discover a 45 minutes delay
It turns out that mute Colin sings beautifully in the car, at least three verses of Karma Chameleon.....
He had all these little scabs when I got him a year ago, I mentioned to the vet and he thinks it is a seasonal thing, harvest mites to be exact. They come and go in a few weeks, but some cats have a reaction. One steroid injection later and Colin has stopped scratching. He was incredibly laid back at the vet, nothing worried him at all.
I asked about a mild sedative for the day when we move. Apparently there is one that he can have, so can humans. So I actually said to the vet 'sod the cat, I'll take them' :rotfl:
As I pulled into the drive, two very excited figures waved to me from the upstairs bedroom window. One was wearing my huge fur hat and a western fringed jacket, that was DS3. The other was wearing a crimson ball gown and a trilby, that was DD. Yes, they had gone through the spare wardrobe earmarked for eb@y and were reliving their childhood days of dressing up. Quite what the neighbours thought when they came out to help carry Colin in from the car is anyone's guess. Probably pleased we're moving.....
Things are now out of the tops of tall cupboards and the ornaments and best china is packed in boxes. DD has done a mass photoing of the clothing for me. I haven't yet checked it, not sure I'm going to get buyers if those two are modeling the clothes
As luck would have it I've got a cold on the way, horrible scratchy throat. The diet now consists of throat lozenges and ice cold drinks.Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Oh what a drama [STRIKE]queen[/STRIKE] king!!! Obviously Colin was feeling left out on the attention stakes!!
. . . . I have always said that I would rather have a vet than a doctor!!
Sorry about the developing cold - maybe it will *make* you slow down a bit. Probably you have become rather run down down with all the stresses and overworking which has left you vulnerable.
Glad the forces have arrived to *help* - hope they don't claim everything that you could sell.0 -
Yeah to forces driving,
Oh Colin well, he certainly managed to get to the centre of your attention with that little scam didn't he! Hope you can avoid this repeating in the future

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Oh good lord, you can so tell that I am not 'owned' by any pets. I read the first part of that paragraph and thought, 'Oh really? How useful....' and then realised it was a vet that was talking and that it was for colin :rotfl:
So glad I managed to catch up with the kids before you got round to callingAnd that they've helped you (by giving you a laugh if nowt else).
Bah to bugs, viruses and sore throats. Look after yourself and keep stocked up with the fluids and cough sweeties

Oh dear, not a good day. I'm streaming with cold, surrounded by piles of stuff and boxes. There is still so much to sort and pack.
Worse still, I've left my car tax until the last minute, due 30th to discover I've been without an MOT for ages. How did I miss getting it done? I don't remember the reminder coming in. I'm in a big panic now. I've got it booked in for Monday, which still means I'll be out of date for the tax disc.
I'm working tonight to cover a colleague then evenings all next week. I still haven't started on the pots in the garden, just so much to do :eek::eek:
Had a call from the solicitor saying that the buyers want a date of 16th October, I don't think I can make this. Soon this will be all over and I might sleep again, who knows....Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Keep calm, they need to pull their socks up a lot to make that date & they appear to be a little relaxed at present. When I bought my place the offer was accepted Aug bank holiday weekend & I was a little surprised to see an early/mid Oct requested completion date when I received the contract a good week or so after that date, finally completed mid Nov & that was meant to be a straight forward one.
Are you sorting room by room or here & there? You certainly seem to be progressing well.
I have to put stuff like car tax and not reminders in my diary so I can give myself a fighting chance of fitting it in my schedule, don't stress about it just get it mot'd on Monday & then to the post office for tax sharpish
Keep yourself warm today & get that flu gone- Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted
- Student Loan gone
Swagbucks, Mingle, GiffGaff, Prolific, Qmee & Quidco; thank you MSE every little bit helps0 -
Wow 16th Oct seems optimistic! I don't know if they'll be able to do that??? Do you think you could be ready if it came to it? (after all the quicker you're out the quicker you can get back to normal) I hope your cold gets lost soon, I've got one coming on too

We have two things in common dear Piq, my car tax ran out the 30th September also and our moving date is the 15th October, very close to your buyers proposed completion date of 16th October! My eyes opened when I read those two things. We are going down from two houses to one, which is very much welcome (much cheaper) but has been a living hell this past few weeks. I too am surrounded by packing boxes and I am being forced, to a degree, to getting rid of things I don't really want to get rid of as we have one house from the 15th October, not two so no need for 2 of everything. Gave away a gorgeous 3 seater and 2 seater settee on Freegle, my guitar, stand and music stand (no longer play it) and so many other things. Hubby not happy at all as giving away things we paid for lol (he's stingy) and also he resigned from him job of 13 years on the 26th September with a months notice to work. I have oodles of stuff to move from England to Scotland and 3 cats to transport down the M6 in the same car as a whinging hubby, its gonna be fun, not! So, you may be moving the day after me!
I'd be a bit stressed about that MOT thing, you're not going to drive between now and Monday are you? cameras everywhere that do checks on MOT etc and if you get snapped, not good. Also, one of my cats had to go to vets last week for cystitis and was told needed 3 teeth removing and descaling etc, came home Thursday night last week with a 414 pound vets bill and ine very unhappy boy  My MOT was the day after but thank god, it passed, but still service and MOT set me back hundreds. Got huge skip booked for week before move and that was 200, then removal van fees for stuff we have nowhere to put it as cottage in Scotland is full already!
I'm having several nervous break downs a day thinking about it all and the cost, its cleaning me out, I feel your pain xx0 -
So sorry to hear that your cold has developed and adding to all your other problems and stresses.
They don't send out reminders for MOTs so you didn't miss it as such. I make a note in my diary for when I need to book it for the next year because one year I also left it too late. Lesson learnt!
Would it be possible for you to offload some *stuff* to friends or family to store for you for a while? Then, when you are settled in your new abode, you could continue with ebaying in a slightly more relaxed way. I really don't know how you are doing it all. I only list a few items at a time and still seem to spend ages packing and so on - and I'm not even working (or moving house)!!!!!0 -

Ah sisters in pain :rotfl:It's awful isn't it?
Thanks to the sweetest person on here I do have some boxes and bubble wrap, but they forgot to parcel up the sanity!
Won't be driving the car, have been lent a van by my friend who runs a van hire company. I've not driven a van before.....the car is being MOTd on Monday, then I'll get it taxed. Everything crossed it passes!
It's horrible giving away good stuff, just because there is no room and things that are special only to you that there will be no room for. I need to be a bit more ruthless on the bric a brac....Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30
