Keep calm, they need to pull their socks up a lot to make that date & they appear to be a little relaxed at present. When I bought my place the offer was accepted Aug bank holiday weekend & I was a little surprised to see an early/mid Oct requested completion date when I received the contract a good week or so after that date, finally completed mid Nov & that was meant to be a straight forward one.

Are you sorting room by room or here & there? You certainly seem to be progressing well.
I have to put stuff like car tax and not reminders in my diary so I can give myself a fighting chance of fitting it in my schedule, don't stress about it just get it mot'd on Monday & then to the post office for tax sharpish :)

Keep yourself warm today & get that flu gone :)

I'm not going through room by room, more here and there. I'm afraid. First the obvious stuff to go, then review what's left. Then box, sell or throw.
Wow 16th Oct seems optimistic! I don't know if they'll be able to do that??? Do you think you could be ready if it came to it? (after all the quicker you're out the quicker you can get back to normal) I hope your cold gets lost soon, I've got one coming on too :( !

It's that their solicitor is going on holiday for two weeks from that date. I don't think mentally I can do it. I have just called DS1 to beg for help from him and his lovely fiancee. He's hopeful that they can get down tomorrow or Monday :T

So sorry to hear that your cold has developed and adding to all your other problems and stresses.

They don't send out reminders for MOTs so you didn't miss it as such. I make a note in my diary for when I need to book it for the next year because one year I also left it too late. Lesson learnt!

Would it be possible for you to offload some *stuff* to friends or family to store for you for a while? Then, when you are settled in your new abode, you could continue with ebaying in a slightly more relaxed way. I really don't know how you are doing it all. I only list a few items at a time and still seem to spend ages packing and so on - and I'm not even working (or moving house)!!!!!

I've made the decision not to eb@y anything material, ie clothes, cushions or the like. They will all go into vacuum bags to be eb@yed after the move. Meanwhile today I've listed a camera and all accessories, muck boots and various other bits. By tomorrow I want to have listed some more horse rugs, saddle, bridle and a couple of mirrors. I've scanned in masses of DVDs and they will be collected on Monday. I've also parceled up everything that has a bid on it [with a note on the packaging as to the contents :D] Today a pair of riding boots sold for £150 :T mind you, I haven't been paid for them yet....

I know the point of all this is to save on costs, but if you WANT to go for the October date, then could you just box stuff that you don't need in the new house, and put it into one of those yellow box storage places for a while?
Then you can go through at your own pace, and do good lisitngs for ebay so that you get good prices...

OK so the 16th of October is a bit of a shock but it's not that outrageous. Its two and a half weeks away. It's achievable. You've already done far more than you think you have. What have you got to lose? The sooner you move the sooner your outgoings decrease and life slows down apace. Would an extra week or two or three really make that much difference? Honestly?

    Hi Piq,

My goodness what a whirlwind! I haven't caught up with your diary for ages and can't believe all that is going on... No wonder you are tired and run down.. It's amazing that you have managed to get this far!! It took me a while to find the new diary as I am a bit special like that :rotfl:

It sounds like you need to delegate some more jobs to your offspring as they seem to want to want to help you which is great. Perhaps it would be worth draw up a list and divvy it out amongst you all and take some pressure of. One thing they could help with is collecting bubble wrap and boxes as the fruit and veg section of most supermarkets has loads of bubble wrap up for grabs and they just bin it. ALDI is a good bet for boxes as the staff are often filling shelves during the day.

Fancy Colin having to go to the vets. I feel your pain. We adopted a rescue rabbit 2 months ago and we noticed that she has stopped eating in the week... went to the vets... she had dental problems £110 it cost for teeth filling operation, injections and having her nails done. I was going to see if they could paint them red but apparently not :). anyway it was money well spent as she is really happy note and eats like a small horse but it is a bit:eek::eek:

Hope you find a bit of time to relax soon.

    Xxxx

 As you have somewhere to go, and presumably are pretty clear about the possessions you'll need in the new place immediately..

Why not agree to the Buyers' date, on condition that they pay at least a months' rental on a storage unit, where you can put the rest of your stuff and sort it out later? ;)

    Cuddles for Colin. :)

Hope your are feeling better today - Colin, too.
  • Hi Have followed your posts about Captain and Colin. I can feel your pain as we are building a house next year and are about to sell our house however we have the small problem of having to house our 12 goldfish who live in our pond and we are NOT leaving them. We are so scared that something will happen to them as we have had some for 12 years. We are going to buy a temp pond and take them to any place we rent!!!!!!!!
Good luck with your plans. x
