Oh no. When will it ever end? Am I being stupid in thinking they may contact you later? Maybe, just maybe they will if it happened in the night and they didn't have paper and pen handy.trix-a-belle wrote: »Grr not good
I can't recall whether you have many neighbours where you are now but if you have, have a quick look about for fresh corresponding damage on cars in the immediate vicinity & ask neighbours if they heard/saw anything, you never know
Hope you get it sorted fairly painlessly, might be worth a quote from a smart repairer like Chips Away (national franchise, will have someone locally who will come to you) before involving insurance they can sort stuff like that for usually a lot less than your excessFebruarycat wrote: »Sorry to hear about your car, what a pain, hope the person get in contact with you.
The damage was done in a car park, no hope of someone owning up I'm afraid. A scrape and run scenario. I just hope their car was similarly damaged and that it costs them more!Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

That's awful.
When I go to the supermarket I generally try to park as far away from everyone lease as possible!!! I kid myself that the extra walking is good for me!!
I have had the occasional argument with pillars in multi story car parks myself so usually spend ages driving around looking for a 'middle' space!! Honestly, I shouldn't be allowed out!!!!0 -
Ouch about the car, I hope the person causing this gets what they deserve

Blimey that is steep.
I recently took mine to a local body shop rather than put it through my insurance.

Hi Piq
How annoying about the car.
I also use a local one man band outfit - he is very good and very cheap.
I remember Volvo quoted £600 for a re-spray on a tiny damaged area - said man did it for £80.
I know you are next county although very down south (of said county) but if you can't get one local I can let you know his details if you want.0 -
 to car quote Piq. But YAY :j to mending your own kindle
Hope work is entertaining and the evening whizzes.

 to mean car damage and nasty quotes in the post!
I confess whenever ours has been bumped or scraped (usually by one of us) we just, er, haven't bothered repairing it at all
:rotfl: Much cheaper :money: :rotfl:
Mind you, I'm now having trouble finding someone who will even take it off my hands for scrap :rotfl: :rotfl:
Hope it's sorted soon.
Ooh, and are you selling cakes?! :j :j0 -
So much for £800, the written quote has come in at a staggering £1687.00 :eek::eek::eek::eek:and if I go through the insurance company I will lose my no claims bonus :eek: Another thing to take into consideration is the value of the car! I'm going to shop around for a one man band type of body repairs. No way is the work worth that, the damage isn't that great. I had some bodywork done on my last car to get it through it's MOT and I recall it as being quite reasonable. Can't remember the name of the place, so I will do a drive past on my day off. At least I remember where it is!
I've been nagging Mrs PG about her endowment claim and how she should claim back the money that is owing to her. Well I've just found some paperwork regarding mine and it would appear that I was also badly advised. Even though I've paid off my mortgage I have today written to them and asked for a refund. I will keep you all posted of developments. When I started the debtfree journey I got all bank charges refunded, so I'm quite happy to go down this route again.
Really need to get back on the diet, now the stress of the stalker has eased a bit [I do still check the car and check to see if I'm being followed in the evening though] So today has been porridge for breakfast. Lunch will be some more of the soup I made yesterday cannelli bean and spinach and dinner should be jacket potato cheese and salad.Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30
