Buzz from an expensive shopping trip? A few minutes to an hour or two. Tops.

Low from knowing you really shouldn't have and the realisation you have let your wife down? Days , weeks , possibly a lifetime.

    It's a no brainer really.
You can get back on the horse, it can be done!

Thank you and yes, I do feel as if I have let her down. Until today she has been so helpful and proactive about the debt busting.

Just a thought but could you keep a picture of Mrs and little K in your wallet that you are forced to look at before you handover and money. That little visual reminder might just be the tool you need to shut your wallet and step away from the spend.

Or a card with the total of your debt on - to remind you how much you still have to pay off?

I know when my boys were young I was always with them so no time to shop.

Thank you for the suggestions. Oh my, to the debt card! Roland, I wouldn't open my wallet again if I was reminded of that all the time.:rotfl:

Son was with my parents, I went into town on the way back home. Not to mention, when I was a child shopping going to cities to buy things was what we did! Not always the same place but of a weekend one day we'd always go someplace and in the holidays we'd go further afield for a weekend.

My parents certainly lived by the philosophy of working hard and playing hard, as a child I never saw either of them hardly during the week.

    My suggestion is

A flickering lightbulb can plunge you into darkness.
    Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £60

No need to fight your corner at all :)....this is your 'thought thread'. We just throw opinion, anecdotal, ideas into the pot...and you can see if anything helps.

Sometimes we make a 'call' on what you have written but it may be incorrect and as we don't 'know' you, we just take from what you write down.:)

Think about ex shopkeepers like me when you next go into one and are tempted :)

You know what? There are loads of people with shopping addiction but it never really comes up as a serious issue if they can 'afford' it.
We have 3 really bad ones in the family.......and I loved Theoreticas post

I presume it was only the second part of your post that you will delete? Apologies if it was the whole post, let me know if I've got this wrong and I will delete this one.

Sorry, about my reaction, you could say that a bit of a raw nerve was hit in regard to my wife. None of us are perfect, eh? :)

hahaha, on the shop keepers ... I do hope I'm not seen as one of these "known" shopaholics.

    Practical suggestion for tomorrow.

A big apology to Mrs K and say it was a one off lapse of judgement (which it was ) and next time you get the urge, you'll fight against it. If you have an ipad, you could log on onto your thread as you sit on the bench outside the shop.....;) Within 5 mins someone will come along and talk you out of it.

If you have a savings account in which to put the CC money, seeing it grow week on week will spur you on and, sometimes, you'll look at the total with regret as it's not 'yours' yet, it's the CC companies.
It's only week 2 so will be a while before you feel you are cracking it.

We'll list the positives on Friday night which includes your increased earnings. :)

    Yup, 2nd part only....

No need to apologise but nerves will get struck on a diary thread especially when the OP is very open about everything.

It's a good opportunity for you to think about things/issues that you may not have considered before either.....even if you don't share them here.

Thank you :), I do agree Mrs. K. is due an apology. No iPads in this household, we have two computers but no other "technology" ... yes we are the family still with the CRT television.

No savings account, well I do have one from years ago which has £700 left :(, at one point it had my house deposit in there. Not sure if it can still be accessed, though.

There are times I feel utterly doomed when I think about all my problems! However, they do need to be sorted.

I'm confused on this as the loan is NOT behind and hasn't accrued defaults.

thats good the loan not behind.

Again also confused on this, I don't see how the creditors will know one and other, they are all different banks. Or were in the case of the two at collection agencies.
At the moment your on a 6 month hold - but eventually they may ask what other debts you have and are they also on reduced payment plans, hence why i queried re the loan as to whether you had got reduced payments on that. The companies could do credit check and see what other companies you owe to, and if they feel there getting the poor end of the money, while company/card no 2 - is getting full payments,

Thank you and no I don't see this post as being harsh, more realistic :o. I am definitely reviewing the budget at the end of the month. :)

    Thank you,

The credit card debt was accrued by me, in secret also ignored in secret until just before I started this diary.

At least everything is now out in the open, and you've really done so well. Hopefully everything will be ok tomorrow.

Sorry things didnt go to good today, surely that doc could put you forward for CBT, when my mum had hers she was referred by the GP.

Tomorrow is another day, remember you have a gorgeous son who needs his dad and mum, xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

mum2one: I see. :) I am hoping to have the CCs cleared at the end of the six months. :) If I can carry on selling things and stop buying things it is not an unrealistic target. The loan would have to wait though, I can just carry on paying that at the £305 per month as there's hardly any interest left to pay on that.

Thank you. :) I appear to be coming down with whatever son has got at the moment so perhaps not at my best at the moment. I don't know re. the doctors they all seem to send me conflicting information, I've apparently got to go back to Dr. Eye-candy ;);) to be put forward for CBT.

I don't want my son realising he is growing up with a troubled father, that is my motivator in sorting my health and money problems out for the moment. Spoke to Mrs. K. on the phone to ask her to come back, she's staying there for the evening... which was as I guessed.

Maybe you should re-evaluate your brother in laws feelings towards you. Surely if he felt about you as you think he does he would not be happy to leave his nephew in your sole care, whilst his sister (your wife) stays with him leaving mini K in your sole care. This is just a thought to throw in the pot, but surely if the family thought as little of you as you appear to think they would NEVER allow their nephew/grandchild to be left in your sole charge as they do. So you just need to show that the recent blip was just a blip, which you should be able to do as you have been doing so well.
