Well done Alex - productive day, nice new savings target and a spreadsheet to boot - impressive :T.

If you can make a habit of taking 5 mins a day to update them, then they'll always be up to date and not something to worry about. :)

Don't worry about how productive tomorrow or the day after might be, be mindful of the moment in time and enjoy each achievement as it happens. Only think ahead when it comes to planning ;)
    Back on the DFW Wagon:

    CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
    CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
    Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/18

Thanks, Ali. :) The savings target isn't strictly "new", I made it earlier on in the month when I set goals. Unfortunately, I've had a horrible January (did last year too, perhaps the January blues is real) and hadn't really managed to find enthusiasm to write about it. I am starting to wonder about starting a new diary but not sure where it would fit in! :rotfl:

As for the spreadsheets ... your 5 minutes per day comment reminds me of the "have you got 10 minutes per day" conversation I have with new music pupils...

It's easier said than done to not worry about productivity. Especially during the weeks I simply fail to focus. Currently I'm disappointed that I had almost no concentration when completing my course assignment a few weeks back. I put my absolute all into it at the time but I know it was substandard and that will no doubt reflect in my mark. Ultimately, I do know you are right about planning ahead but not agonising on your own projected productivity levels of a given day. Not sure how to apply the theory though!

you are debt free- i missed it- so sorry, well done Alex, this is great!
seems like yesterday that you were selling your pens etc to get debt free, you have come so far and its very inspiring and empowering.
I have recently been doing the same and boy does it feel good to sell all the junk to pay off debt that was aquired buying it in the first place. LOl (well some of it anyways).
Glad to see you have gone digital and have started using spreadsheets- its makes like sooooooo much easier to just tweak a few numbers in excel or whatever instead of drawing up a messy hand written one.
hope you had a lovely christmas- hows your wee lad, and school??
    foggy :)

The January blues are definitely real. A co I used to work for used to have their Xmas do in January. It was a lot cheaper & so they paid for those who had a long distance to travel to stay overnight & a coach for all the locals. It used to make such a difference to January that once they stopped I decided to treat myself to something different the last week of Jan which I would decide in Nov. I haven't done this year and am really feeling the difference.

Am I the only one who's wondering what font and colour he's using on his spreadsheets :rotfl:.

    Sorry Alex :kisses3:.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

    Hi Foggy,

Thank you. It only seems like yesterday to me as well. However, whilst it's been difficult I'm so glad I have done this. I can honestly say dealing with the debts myself and writing this diary has changed quite a few of my attitudes for the better.

I hope you are well and I'm so pleased to hear you're dealing with the debts. :)

As for the spreadsheets, it's very early days for me yet and I'm not sure if I'll manage to keep them up to date.

Christmas was nice again, the Elf got up to plenty of mischief! My son is doing very well but not sure I wish to hear the school word mentioned ... He's in his final year of nursery and we've got to make our minds up about where he will be attending in September (there are 3 possibles). Frankly, I cannot believe he's 4 now.

    Thanks, patanne.

The company's "Christmas" party sounds nice and something for the staff to look forward to and enjoy without having to think about Christmas at the same time. As for the January treat ... I should leave that as a concept in my mind and not act upon your advice. ;)

    Monday 26th January, 2015.

    Dear Diary,

Yes, it's far too late to be updating this and I've not made any extra cash for the £10,000 target but I have managed a day of productivity including updating the spreadsheets.

The big news is that Mrs. K. is sticking to her word to clear the credit card balances and she seems quite determined to act upon her desires to move her career to the next step. I really hope she keeps her mind on these targets and we can eventually merge our finances once again.

Somehow, it's oddly motivating to close the day with a summary of it's events on here, even if they are really of no interest to anyone but myself.

    Yours Faithfully,
    Alex.
