    Busy is good though right?

    Very. :)
Maybe Little K will take after you for creativity and nice handwriting :)

In all honesty I hope not. I don't think "creatives" tend to be the happiest of people.
(but £38? *faints* I hope you got a few drinks in with that haha!)

    HBS x

I'd like to say so but no, I didn't even have a drink (unless a glass of water counts these days).

  • Heya Alex,

Haven't been around in a while so did a little catching up there!

Keep going, you CAN do it!

I actually popped in because that "music is just for fun" guff from the staff where you volunteer was really annoying me (I often get the same attitude for languages) & I had a quick squiz on Google...

I think you will really make a difference to some lives with your music volunteering so keep it up!:T

Right gotta go & cook for the DC's - haute cuisine aka baked beans & local sausages. Michel Roux has serious competition...NOT :rotfl:

    GranariesGirl: Thank you. :)

There are times that I lose sight of what I'm doing whilst being berated by staff members - the school doesn't seem to think music is very worthwhile. However, on Tuesday I received a "your lessons are the best, sir" from a rather unlikely wannabe violinist who seems to also suddenly think that Mahler is "cool" which surprised me in a very good way (they were sent away with a project to research the orchestra and how it has developed over time). Mind, I do like spreading "gossip" about composers, making them seem less like stuffy, dead men and more "real".

How fabulous! Sometimes students can surprise you :j

Unfortunately music tends to slide down the scale a bit (no pun intended) when a school is struggling to get kids educated. I loved my music lessons, but then again I was a fairly good student in a rough school.

I do agree sometimes that creatives can be emotionally challenged (that's how my creative ex put it) but you have to channel that into your creativity :)

Praise from a pupil is worth ten times praise from another teacher. Well done Alex :) Sounds like youre doing a great job !
Its just a bad day, Not a bad life ..
  • I have this image now of the teachers lining the corridors and shouting at you and trying to trip you up as you walk down it. That would be one rough school.

When I went into schools as an adult and found out teachers were just normal people and some of them not even likeable, it shattered all my illusions I had as a pupil. Still feel a bit sad. I wish they had been amazing.

    They can indeed. :)

And yet research proves music to be very important to children's intellectual development.

Unfortunately, I fall within the realms of "emotionally challenged". However, I ought not dwell on such things.

Thank you, I'm doing alright even though I have to admit I find many aspects of it difficult and there are times I wonder why on earth I ever bothered to get myself involved in the first place.

:rotfl: Erm, no sorry to disappoint. I get on with some of the staff.

I know exactly what you mean by teachers shattering the illusions we had when we were pupils.

    Friday 7th February, 2014.

    Dear Diary,

The first week in February has been somewhat of a refreshing change from my horrible month of January. Work wise, I have been busy which often means that a financial bonus should be on it's way shortly by way of a reward.

With regards to my debt busting activities, I have auctions listed on eBay but what seems like little interest. However, I am somewhat reassured that sooner or later my patience will pay.

Trying to look on the bright(er) side.

    Summary:
    -£27.00 Groceries.
    -£1.40 Bakery.

    Yours Faithfully,
    Alex.

Mara: The question ought to be what am I not up to! I'm very busy at the moment work wise on all levels and have had some difficult decisions to make with regards to my family.

I should have time to write an update on Friday and hopefully somethings to report on the financial front. :)
