Glad to hear you are still pretty positive about things Alex - I was beginning to think you'd gone to ground somewhere!!
Don't keep looking back at past mistakes - everyone has made them - some bigger than others.
The trick is to know you are moving FORWARD - so don't keep looking back.
Use your experience to maybe not make the same mistakes again - but don't dwell on them or think that the mistakes are who and what you are.
Gosh there are people in their 60s and 70s still learning that lesson - so don't feel bad about it. And some people never learn or have any personal insight.
Its so good to have interesting hobbies isn't it and I too can never figure out people who don't have things on the go - I love my village and family history - oh and handbags - but can only occasionally get one if I have some Amazon vouchers or they are massively reduced - or I have to sell one to get a replacement - still its fun looking for bargains!Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0 -
Its like the old saying goes regarding (the lack of) hobbies Alex - if you're bored - then you are boring!Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0

If you cut out all the putting yourself down (which is your own choice to do) it all sounds good, I think .
Are you still seeing counsellor. Are you living within your extensive means. Is your dad ok. Why did they let you cook on Sunday ? You sound happier. Which you deserve to be .0 -
If we didn't make mistakes we wouldn't be human. At least that's what I tell the cheerleaders when I mess up the routine!

I agree with you about people doing "nothing"...it totally bemuses me. If I have nothing to do I at least read a book!
Keep up the positivity. We're still rooting for you

Thank you for the encouraging post, today has been particularly difficult but for no actual reason. Unfortunately, I seem to be very much defined by my past (and thus my past wrongdoings) by those around me. Not to mention I'm getting nowhere with clearing any monies owed this year.If you cut out all the putting yourself down (which is your own choice to do) it all sounds good, I think .

I still see the counsellor but not every week. As for living within our means (which are currently not so "extensive") I have given Mrs. K. complete control of our finances, so I cannot be blamed for any overspend. My father is unfortunately not OK but we are hoping things will continue to improve albeit very slowly. As for Sunday, my mother is struggling to cope with things, I've no doubt some will be pleased to hear that.2018 totals:

Thanks, HBS.
You are not the only one bemused by the "nothing" people. Although, if one is happy doing nothing they would likely be in a better position than I ever will.
Think I perhaps spoke a little too soon with the positivity!2018 totals:

Hope your Father goes on ok, I guess it is a shock for your Mother, as it sounds like it is them 2 verses the rest of the world, and maybe she isn't as strong without the support from your father.

I hope that your father continues to improve, although many of your supporters have been unhappy at the way you are/have been treated by your mother (me included), I very much doubt that anyone who has posted here would wish your mother any ill will. No doubt she is worried and feels vulnerable. Sometimes people who appear to have a hard shell and know all the answers are really only using that as a shield to protect themselves.
I am sure that you will be able to continue with the debt busting in due course and don't forget to keep looking at the mental gold star chart showing what a very long way you have come on this journey since your first post.
Best wishes to you and all the "K's".

mum2one and maddiemay: I'm sorry for my previous comments, having had time to think it through I realise I was being stupid.
I have to say I am pleased with at my mental gold star chart, thank you for making me smile. Our finances seem to once again be tight as whilst I have quite a few business deals in the pipeline things for the moment are very quiet, so I have not taken a salary this month and most likely won't next month either.2018 totals:

Dear Diary,
I am beginning to wonder if I spoke too soon with my positive thoughts, for today has been particularly difficult for no real reason other than dwelling on my lack of a salary this month which has prevented us from saving money towards our son's schooling. Financially, I wonder if my wife and I will ever be able to become independent of debt, especially when our son goes to school.
Looking towards the positive, in not paying myself a salary I am managing to make a dent in the debt I owe to my business. Although, I have to admit taking a break from MSE has allowed me to go back into a state of denial over my debts, pretending they don't exist instead of actively selling "stuff" to rid myself of them.
Summary:

Yours Faithfully,
