Well, after the heady highs of Sunday and yesterday, I've crashed. Not feeling particularly positive today and generally a bit low. :(

Post holiday blues / post gig blues / post <<anything exciting>> blues.

It happens, you were gearing up for the party - the party was great, it's over, you feel flat. Perfectly normal if you ask me

So onwards and upwards - how you going to make Christmas special for Little K? (and I don't mean presents)
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Roland: Yes, I'm very tired and had a big day to catch up work wise as well as the accompanying. Do have some news regarding debt busting though; I've had a full and final offer I'm willing to take so one debt down. :D

VJsmum: Indeed. As for Christmas, I suppose we ought to get thinking about it. We have my parents' carol night which should be nice for son, then I'll have to come up with some ideas. Suggestions, anyone?

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Tuesday 19th November, 2013.
    Day 80.

    Dear Diary,

First of all, I wish to declare I will be one debt down soon enough as one company has sent me a Full and Final Offer that I wish to pay. So, it appears I really am on the road to becoming debt free after all. Whilst today has been somewhat trying this represents the beginning of the next part of my journey - paying off my debts.

Mrs. K. and I have also been looking forward to the future and our next few challenges once we have cleared my debt. Those are: Begin to overpay the mortgage and to save £30,000 whether we put that down as a deposit on a BTL or simply blow it on a depreciation free classic car will be up to us and dependent on how we feel when the time comes. Staying with the positive, my parents admitted at my age they were little better off than I am, so becoming financially comfortable in the future is doable. Thus, I am beginning to wonder if I had set rather unrealistic goals for myself in the first place and have ended up making myself ill because of them.

Unfortunately, the day has not all been good and I've been feeling rather low. As others have mentioned on here, it is perhaps more to do with our son's birthday being over and done with for another year.

    Summary:
    +£75.00 Accompanying.
    -£0 = NSD.

    Yours Faithfully,
    Alex.

There are lots of cheap / free things to do that make christmas special for young children...

have you thought about where to take him to see Father Christmas?

He is coming into Matlock on Saturday 7th - for the christmas parade before the lights get turned on, free to watch him come into town in his horse drawn carriage

he will also be on the Santa Special steam train at Peak Rail, and the Ecclesbourne railway from Wirksworth and lots of other places but these do cost money ...

i know Santa also visits the various villages around the Peaks so maybe worth finding out when he is coming along to your area...its usually free to watch him go past in the sleigh but they always welcome a donation...

    Thank you!

    You must be local? :)

We are going to the Christmas market on one of the days in Matlock (I think the light switch on corresponds with this).

Santa special steam train actually sounds like fun!

There is also something on the web where you can do an online santa movie for a child with names of places and pets etc - did for my niece last year.

Also the Elf Yourself site here you add your own pics to animated dancing figures - hilarious.

Lots of sites do Santa's village and shows where Santa is as he travels round on Christmas Eve.

There'll be party at nursery and get him involved making decorations - even if its only for his room. Or colouring cards for relatives.

Get some Christmas story books - to get him in the mood.

Put out carrots for reindeer on Christmas Eve and mince pie for Santa - you can leave snowy footprints with icing sugar.

A new thing to are Christmas Elfs - get the elf ( a little toy one) to do things at night before son gets up - something different every day - naughty little things perhaps!

Can I come? Can I, can I? I promise to be good :). I've only been on a steam train at a transport museum place but I loved it smiley-transport022.gif Toot Toot :j.

In other matters - well done on the F&F:T, the NSD :T and the accompanying :T. Do you know if they passed?
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Will look into this, my wife is the "techy" one, so I think she'd enjoy doing this and then showing it to our son.

:rotfl: I can imagine that already. Will not let my wife loose on this one.

We looked at one of those last year, though I don't think our son really "got it".

:rotfl: Already know about the nursery Christmas party. Yours truly is playing the piano (well, I say piano it's a big keyboard really). Not sure how I end up volunteering for such things.

We can certainly do things with the decorations but I will not have him colouring cards yet - his colouring is not very good. ;)

Christmas story books are a good idea. Also, did you tell your children about the "real" story of Christmas and why we celebrate it? My family are far from religious but I would quite like him to know as rightly or wrongly I have found some comfort from Christian notions, especially during desperate times (school was heavily connected to the Anglican church, so that is perhaps where it comes from). However, I do not wish to force any beliefs onto him as I'm not even sure what I believe myself. If it's true, I'm going to Hell many times over. :o

We plan to put a carrot for Reindeer and a mince pie out for Santa on Christmas Eve.

I'm not sure I understand re. the elves? Please elaborate. :)
