    Day 79.

    Dear Diary,

    Well this is going to be short and sweet but I make no apologies as it's late and I'm a bit piddled. :o

    Today has been just as wonderful as yesterday and tomorrow is exam day so please thing of me whilst your all cosily wrapped up I'll be playing piano in a church hall.

    No debt busting has been done today but I hope to be back on it tomorrow.

    Summary:
    +£25.00 Music Teaching.
    +£25.00 Rehearsal.
    -£53.00 Meal out.

    High - 6 to 8 hours Low 8 to 10 hours

    Ingredients
    25g / 1oz butter
    900g / 2lb stewing steak, trimmed and cubed
    1 large onion peeled and chopped
    100g / 4oz mushrooms sliced
    50g/2oz flour
    300ml / 1/2pt bitter or brown ale
    450ml / 3/4pt beef stock
    2 x 15ml (tablespoons) tomato puree

    Method
    1, Place butter in a saucepan and heat till melted
    2, Add the steak and cook for 3 to 4 mins
    3, Add onion, mushrooms, - cook 2 to 3 mins
    4, add flour cook for 1 min
    5, stir in remaining ingredients and bring to the boil
    6, pop in slow cooker - then relax
    x


    Just checked why the big time difference - if you want to do the chuck in method - no prep - use low and the longer cooking time

    Xmas Saver!
    High (pre cook) 6 to 9 hrs Low (chuck all in) 8 to 10 hrs

    Ingredients
    1 x 15ml / tablespoon oil
    1 onion peeled and chopped
    1 clove garlic peeled and crushed
    1 green pepper - deseeded and sliced
    100g / 4oz mushrooms sliced
    750g / 1 1/2lb pork fillet cubed abd tossed in 1oz flour
    600ml / 1 pint pork stock
    2 x 15ml/2 tablespoons sherry
    432g / 15oz (large can) pineapple chunks


    Method
    1. Heat oil in saucepan, add onion and garlic - cook for 2 to 3 mins
    2. Add peppers, mushrooms - cook for 1 -2mins
    3. Add pork and cook until browned
    4. Add remaining ingredinets and ring to the boil
    5. off to the slow cooker and relax x

    It sounds like a really good day, and a meal out good for you, you've worked really hard, and look at it this way youve earnt £50 today, so its not coming out of any budgets,

    No probs, raided the few recipies that came with our slow cooker, I have to keep my booze intake up somehow:D xx

    High (pre cook - 6 to 9 hrs, Low (easy method 7 to 9 hrs

    Ingredients
    3 x 15ml oil / 3 tablesppons
    1 onion, peeled and sliced
    1 clove garlic peeled and crushed
    1 x green pepper - deseeded and chopped
    1 x small aubergine - thinly sliced
    335g / 8oz tomatoes -skinned and chopped (to do this pop tomatoes in bowl, cover with boiling water - leave about 30 secs to 1 min, drain and you can peel easy)
    400g / 14oz can chopped tomatoes
    1 x 15ml / 1 tablespoon tomato puree
    300ml / 1/2 pint boiling water

    Method
    1 - chuck all in slow cooker and cook for 7 to 9 hours on Low

    pre start
    1. Heat oil in saucepan, add onion and garlic cook for 2 mins
    2. Add pepper, aubergine, mushrooms and courgettes and cook for 2 to 3 mins
    3. Add remaining ingredients - bring to the boil
    4. Transfer to slow cooker and relax

    If you want an added zest add some red wine (the alcohol boils away).

    1 onion peeled and chopped
    2 carrots - peeled and chopped
    600ml / 1 pint beef stock

    Method
    1. place butter in large frying pan and heat till melted
    2. add the meat and brown on all sides
    3.place the onions + carrots in the pan and cook for to 3 mins
    4.Add the stock and bring to the boil
    5. transfer to slow cooker and relax
