I've come to that conclusion too. Not another Londoner? ;) You all seem to be from London or Scotland. :rotfl: Anyway, FC and I seem to understand one and other, I reckon we probably have similar backgrounds which helps ".

FC IS empathy personified. If she cannot be kind to a person then they are pretty much irredeemable ;) she gets most people and is a people person. I adore FC. :). She is a truly good egg in world where most are over or under boiled.

Londoner? No, not really. Always had one foot in London, but I'm not even wholly English, as I alluded to on your other thread. :). I started living in uk more full time as a child when I came to school here. My DH is in London mon to fri, but he's far less English than I but a mixture too. He is less of a mongrel than I am though.

For example, I loved this expression : ' I may be liberal with the red "ink"'. It can only be good for me! ha ha ha ..
Well, we are approaching midnight, is time to go to bed for me and dream with little angels...night night

    See you all...

:rotfl: It was a reference to the colour ink that teachers use to mark and comment upon pupils' work in England. :)

    Good night.

I'll second that just to embarrass you further if you are around Mrs. FC. :)

I understand a little more now. :) I'm "Derbyshire born and Derbyshire bred...." some of you may know the rest. :rotfl:

Yep, there's a few "I can't read an' I can't write but that don't really matter, 'cos I'm a Derby County fan an' I can drive a tractor" sorts in my mother's side of the family. I'm not being rude saying that as they are quite proud to be what one may call "thick".

FC, I am being on ( trying to be on) especially good behaviour in here, a board I don't normally frequent, but while I don't often pull punches, I think it would be unfair to say I am unnecessarily harsh, smug or rude. Unempathetic, perhaps, I admit I have to work hard and draw on personal experience but I always try to work on that.:) and I try to be balanced.

I would say Alex's other thread is not particular harsh for the nature of the 'wider board' certainly not for the Internet!

In any case Alex, IMO if the other is causing you mental disquiet I would simply walk away from it and cease responding. It will drop down the board and be forgotten.

No no, I hadn't seen the other one until after I wrote this.....I meant more the poor posters who took out dodgy mortgages or loans and then get someone who is a retired acountant being a bit dismissive of their plight in a 'why were you so stupid ' kind of way. You know the types :) On the whole, most people can offer good advice and a 2nd opinion.

I then read the other one and I think it's quite a balanced debate on the whole......and Alex does write the odd thing that gets challenged...well more than the odd thing maybe ;)

I didn't know there was another thread. Just had a look at the first and last page - oh dear.

That'll be my lunchtime reading then :rotfl:
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

They just have different aspirations to you...and are happy with their lot. There's nothing wrong with that.

HBS: I never said there was anything wrong with it, they're much happier than I and if I'm honest I'd trade my life for their's. :)

No. no you wouldn't. You'd trade your discontent for their content-ness, if that makes sense.

It makes sense. :) However, for somebody who believes he is a failure, becoming content with his "lot in life" seems beyond the realm of possibility.
