How are you Alex? I see you are discussing about British gas, coincidentally , my husband and I, we were discussing tonight about changing providers. He has been working out price per Khw to find out who is the cheapest.

    Day 52.

    Dear Diary,

I would also like to say thank you to everybody who has been supportive on this thread, having ventured out into another part of the forum, I have realised that unfortunately not all members are so kind as the Debt Free Wannabees.

Talking of which, my debt free activities today have consisted of sending off my first full and final letter in an effort to begin negotiations with one of the collection agencies and telling Mrs. K. Should she decide to spend £3,000 on a classic car, I will need to see £1,500 back in the debt pot from her selling things of her own.

    Summary:
    -£55.53 LR Diesel.

    Yours Faithfully,
    Alex.

Yay, ....and I am sure she saw this as totally reasonable too.
DFW is def one of the friendlier boards as anyone wanting to embark on a 'smug-fest' and being rude on a posters thread is swiftly put down by other posters.
By Smug, I mean there are plenty of people out there who haven't had certain challenges in their lives (such as illness and so on) and have always had secure PAYE incomes on perm contracts so have no idea what it can be like for others in different life and work situations.
They can lack empathy and can't help themselves jumping onto a posters problem thread with judgmental waffle.

The other thing that winds me up a lot is judgement on peoples intelligence. People are born at all levels of ability and to be rude to someone who isn't so bright or educated and got ripped off with a loan or similar and is in a bad place is just downright rude IMHO. Ooops rant over.

Intelligence levels are random at birth and education makes it work better.....

    Empathy is a gift :A

To be fair, we are very gentle to you on this thread! I did try and nudge them over here as it explains your full situation :)

I do still think you're under your parents' thumb and Mrs K. is rebelling against that...but that's something you will have to eventually see for yourself.

EDIT: Ask BG about the servicing programme. Mr HBS sorted it out before I moved in and it's good apparently :)

    HBS x

:rotfl: I realise that now. Will probably not be venturing out of here again now. :rotfl:

I imagine lots of people are thinking that. However, I have been estranged from them before and don't want that to happen again.

I will look into it if I can't get my utilities cheaper elsewhere.

Glad you managed to log on, in the end. :)

I'm, erm, a little overwhelmed at the moment! I can't say I can be bothered to work out the price per KWh so shall be doing the online comparison. ;)

Thank you and yes she did understand that. :)

I think I've learned re. DFW being one of the more friendly boards the hard way, LOL. :o

Unfortunately, in the past I have been guilty of the latter, not for debt problems but for things like spelling, grammar and syntax. Recently, I have declined to make comments on peoples written English, as I have to admit it sounded pompous.

Certainly agree in regard to intelligence levels and also would like to add different people have different abilities in different areas, even the "good allrounders" have something they excel in and something else they struggle with.

FC, I am being on ( trying to be on) especially good behaviour in here, a board I don't normally frequent, but while I don't often pull punches, I think it would be unfair to say I am unnecessarily harsh, smug or rude. Unempathetic, perhaps, I admit I have to work hard and draw on personal experience but I always try to work on that.:) and I try to be balanced.

I would say Alex's other thread is not particular harsh for the nature of the 'wider board' certainly not for the Internet!

In any case Alex, IMO if the other is causing you mental disquiet I would simply walk away from it and cease responding. It will drop down the board and be forgotten.

    .

You are welcome to criticise mine. Go on. :).
  • To be honest, we have been for so long with British gas that I have never bothered to change suppliers until I saw the news that they are going to raise their prices up. So, just like your Mum I thought the time has come but I wanted my husband to do it! I do recognize that sometimes I am not bothered or I cannot be bothered... my husband said he used the comparison site but he did so because I pointed it out to him because I have learned about it in this forum! I just need to know now how all this 'cash back' works ha ha ha...
Hmm Overwhelmed? I am the one overwhelmed reading your posts :-)
