I fitted a Dimplex Quantum heater!

supermario64 Sadly you have been poorly advised regarding bedroom heating. Storage heaters are not usually recommended for bedrooms. (Both for noise and control reasons) You would have been better with a simpler and cheaper convection heater with built in timer. I have a mix of Quantum storage units in the living areas and Quantum Q-Rads in the bedrooms. (These have no fans ,are silent, and although they use "full-rate" power they only draw power when needed such as before bedtime or in the morning.)

Yes. I have one of their small panel heaters in my bedroom. They are silent, but do have the odd click when cooling down. Though only a couple and not loud. However I don't find them very effective. Just my opinion.0

Just had a Quantum Storage heater installed in the bedroom and woke up to these metallic clicking noises which are quite loud! I can also hear the fan going on and off but that's fine and tolerable. Basically the fan goes on for some seconds, then it stops, then those loud clicks start. Actually had to turn off the heater because it's quite bad. Does this seem normal? Might be an issue with the fitting (was the first time the electrician was fitting one and they were struggling to fit the bottom grill...)
Thanks!
Yes I have had the same problem. Had a Dimplex engineer out yesterday actually. He couldn't find anything wrong except it wasn't fitted totally securely to the wall. One screw was just going round and round and the heater isn't flush against the wall. I have to get the company who installed it to refitt it.
I don't actually think that is the whole problem though. The clicking is very loud at night time and wakes me up. I think some of it is due to the metal expanding and contracting. Shouldn't have to put up with it though. I think the whole thing is an extremely bad design.
I still have my old Creda TSR18MW which I am going to refurbish (just waiting for one thing to arrive). Seriously considering putting that back in once it's finished.
Take a video of your heater making the noise and email Dimplex. They will send out an engineer.
My real problem though is the heater installed in the lounge. Tested the boost while the electrician was here, all good. After they left It showed a fault error (didn't take a picture). Turned the electric plug on and off and now all it does is flash the screen. NO inputs work. Electrician has no clue why...Sent Dimplex this video here if anyone's curious...https://youtu.be/kRaYdgwK5Og
Looking back I did choose an electrician that didn't have experience fitting these heaters who I'd work on smaller jobs before. Thought it would be straightforward (also another heating company in London sent me a quote of £800 pounds just to remove 2 old storage heaters and install these two new ones, and I thought it was shocking)...
Yes, this does make sense. I did do loads of research and ultimately everyone kept saying how storage heaters would always be the best solution if you're on E7. If I'd known about this clicking noise i surely wouldn't have gone for this...oldcyclist said:supermario64 Sadly you have been poorly advised regarding bedroom heating. @supermario64 Strangely mine hasn't clicked since the dinplex engineer came out. I will monitor over the next couple of days.
Regarding your digital display, I think one of my neighbours has the same problem. I'll see if I can catch him and see if he got it sorted.
If you have a car, just take your old heaters to the local tip for free or put on freecycle for spares.0 -

@supermario64 Just spoke to my neighbour. He hasn't had his fixed yet. He's going to call Dimplex and see if they will send someone out.
Dimplex engineer shouldn't take long to come out. Was about 3 days I think for me. They will give you a date. Best to turn heater off 48 hours before they come out so it has time to cool down if he needs to take it apart.

I have a mixture of the older F model storage heaters and newer G versions. One of the G ones failed within a year of installation with a fault code (can't remember what it was) After a couple of calls I finally got through to the Dimplex service guys and they asked for some status details which can be read out from one of the menu items. Eventually an engineer turned up and identified a software problem. He uploaded new s/w from his laptop and all has been well since then. Be warned though, the whole process from my first call to fix was around three weeks!0

I called Dimplex this morning, they were very helpful and said they'd get someone sent out and my job wouldn't go into a queue (since the heater in the lounge, which is my main source of heating doesn't work at all) so hopefully shouldn't take long. Crossing my fingers!0 -

Hello,
Quick question someone might know: let's say you weren't planning to use too much heat the previous day but suddenly your plans changed, and you actually set it on at a higher temperature for the whole day.
Does the heater ever indicate it is running out of charge? From what I understand it doesn't start boost in user time mode (which is good) but does it ever indicate it won't be able to reach certain temperatures because it didn't charge enough? Or will it simply just stop heating once its ran out?
Thanks!0
