Good to know. Just wondering if you’ve decided to keep it now.
But since the lady at Dimplex explained it, it all now makes sense. I was just used to the old fashioned manual control ones. Had no idea they changed all the regulations in 2018. So any new ones will work the same.1 -

The Unidare conveniently stops charging at 3.40pm due to the neglected timeswitch. This controls the meter so E10 hours and charging coincide.0 -

I have Economy 7. Starts charging at 00:17 and goes off at 07:17.1 -

Because I am home all day I have found on very cold days the heater has used well over 50% of its stored energy by 6.pm. Although the heater does manage to keep the place warm until 11.pm you can see that it is struggling, because the fan will run the entire evening, where during the day it will cut in and out. When I bought these heaters that was not a concern to me, because it said in the instruction manual that you could have the heater take on an extra charge during the night of between 1-4 hours to compensate for this. However, I have found this is not true. I have set my heaters to take on the full extra 4 hours of charge but it makes no difference. I have spoken to the Dimplex technical guys and they have told me that the heaters can only take on an extra charge if the off peak tariff allows it. Of course with Economy7 this is not the case, but they do not mention this in the user manual. A false stament and very misleading.
I have the extra hours with Economy 10 and it’s in one block. I would keep this tariff if unit cost was the same as E7 and there was more choice.
Agree that the manual should state the extra boost charge can only be used with E10 (3 hrs extra).
Would have thought though that the normal 7 hour period would be enough with a bit of setting up.
I think the Quantum fully charges in around five hours.0 -

It will only charge enough overnight for what you tell it you want the next day.
So if you say you will be out all day it comes on for an hour or so around 7 and then a few hours at 5 30 pm (you can change those times if you want). So the night before it will only charge enough for that amount of output the next day. However, that didn't seem enough for today.
Set it on Home all day and t gets a full charge.
Set it to say that you don't want it on at all the next day and it takes no charge at all overnight.0 -
It all sounds rather complicated. How are you supposed to predict how much heat you are going to need the next day?0
