That was so thoughtful, Watty, good for you. An accident like that is an eye opener, isn't it2023: the year I get to buy a car4

gentle hugs for you and your friend. I have a photo of my car, like you when I look at it I find it hard to believe I wasn't crushed. Nowadays with my weight/width I certainly wouldn't have

Had a bit of a meltdown yesterday. I think it finally dawned on me that it is me that keeps this ship afloat and with three horses a large dog and a cat it is quite a ship. Also the extent of the work on the house seems overwhelming as it hasn't been touched in 5 years, and is old and a lot needs doing. The fences all need repair, there is a water leak in the field, the garden is over run with weeds despite my efforts and everywhere I look there seems to be a major job that needs doing. The plasterer that was supposed to finish off the new windows has not shown up and the carpenter for the stairs repairs has stopped answering messages so I suppose he doesn't want the job and the en-suite has developed a smell reminiscent of an unsavoury overseas unsanitary holiday destination. Not to mention the mould in the shower. Both TV's have stopped working as have the Fire Sticks...... the list goes on. It seems overwhelming and with winter approaching I am aware I have no wood or coal and the front door has so many holes the wind will whistle through again.
Wattydog has eaten a red plastic shoe and is now throwing up bits of dog toy and I'm beginning to think the pain in my breast is actually something more than a pulled muscle. Went to the doctors yesterday for a blood test but unable to get an appointment to see an actual doctor for ages - however - I am apparently overdue for a "wellness" check so booked one of those for Thursday. Maybe I can discuss pains and constant headaches there. Also found out the reason that they are only prescribing my meds in amounts of 6 days at a time is because I am overdue a "medication review". I never knew such things existed but apparently i have to have one with a pharmacist so that has been booked in as well.
Anyway utterly overwhelmed but trying to look for something bright and the house is at least clean thanks to the lovely cleaner. After she blitzed the house I decided to keep her on. Frugal me says I could clean, but aware my mental health is struggling I think having someone do it for me is as beneficial as the counselling.
Now off to make a cup of tea and begin work.

Small comfort i know but can thoroughly recommend hg mould cleaner. Spray on, leave, rinse. It actually clears the mould! Lol, yes I know they all supposed to do that but this one actually does. We get it at bnq but ive seen it elsewhere.
Our TV stopped working this morning but it was merely the power cable had come slightly out. After changing doofer batteries, the fuse in the plug, which power socket the plug was in etc 20 mins later we thought to jiggle the cable......sometimes it is a simple fix but we went complicated immediately.
I wonder if you have a mens shed anywhere near? It strikes me some of these things could be competently tackled by some older gent(s) with a bit time on his/their hands? You need help (and maybe a little genial company from time to time) and sometimes these guys need to be useful? Might be win win for a few bacon rolls one Saturday morning. Theres also a scheme I know of called work away. Try looking that up. We came across it watching these do up a French chateau on ninepence type programmes. There's opportunities for all sorts: working in Spain with donkey sanctuaries, in Portugal helping someone do up an old farm, further up north of me someone wanted a person to watch a child/take them to school and do a bit housework etc etc while they git on with something else. I've seen one where as a perk you get the use of the owners light aircraft all the way down to a literal hovel someone's trying to renovate. People agree food and board for x number of hours work a day/week/month etc. With you having the animals that would be a draw for some folk. Some of them the help required is cook a meal and run a hoover round. Other times its a stonemason required. There really is a wide variety.
Sorry, see what I did there? Jumped immediately into throwing solutions at you. I know you're perfectly capable and maybe just wanted a wee vent. Consider yourself hugged if you want one, a hearty handshake if you prefer or just a companionable silence as we each sit in a chair having a cuppa and a wee read.
I hear you when you say its all on me. Hard big task. But........its all on me (said with quiet glee) will be your thoughts on other days. Yes its yours to fail, but my god thats already happened with the help of another so that idea isn't foolproof. Now you get small steps towards it all working as you want it to.

Watty I have the same problems in my house and it seems so overwhelming, especially as trades people regularly don't turn up to quote when they say they will.I had a team of young lads do some work in the garden the first year I was here, they were part of an organisation that help rehabilitate young offenders, or give work to former military people etc.If you find a way that works for you then please share and if I have any success with anything I will sahre right back.Sending you love and hugs xMFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Actually I love the solutions .!! Thank you.
I have made a list, it fills 3 columns on a sheet of A3 and I tackled the most pressing. (Discussed health issues with the practice nurse who has made it very clear I must play the practice game TOMORROW and get an appointment as one issue cannot be ignored). Anyway that meant I crossed off 5 items, and will deal with the most pressing personal one tomorrow.
Mould spray purchased, thank you @daisy_1571 and I will use that tomorrow if time or over weekend and I ate out of freezer (disgusting green smoothie mix at lunch and pork mince of uncertain age in a stir fry) and emailed a tradesman who should call tomorrow so says his email responder (ummm)

Just checking with the hg mould spray have you got the one that says Foam Spray on it? If not, would be best to try and swap it for that as it works much better than the ordinary spray. Because it foams, it clings more to vertical surfaces whereas the plain spray just runs down. Leave it on for longer than in says as it will work better (avoiding painted surfaces and aluminium and whatever else delicate it says on the can). If you've got black mould in your white silicone, it will gradually lighten to brown and will eventually disappear with repeated treatments.

Thanks for the tips. The only room with the mould is the en-suite. The new window has a vent and I've been leaving that open and I think that might help with prevention. During time ex was here the fan mysteriously stopped working (I think he disconnected it as it was the room i was using and I refused him access to it after I moved back and I can't figure out why it suddenly just stopped)
I'll work on mould over the weekend. The tiles are delicate and apparently nothing should be used on them but after all these years the surface is pretty much destroyed in the shower by limescale and the room is on my list to re-do because really anyone with the slightest weight issue cannot squeeze between the sink and loo and the tiles are marked in various places and so I think mould removal is a priority and I had planned to replace the tiles anyway.
Been to the doctors and the doctor I saw was really lovely. Breast does indeed have a lump and have been referred to the breast clinic as a priority. He reassured me that 9/10 referrals are fine and I should try not to worry and that I will possibly been seen within 2 weeks. I'm glad I went and started this process off. I declined prescription pain killers. I've got into a mess with those before so will just sit this out.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

It will be what it will be, but the important thing is you're in the system to find out what it is and take it on from there.Sending positive thoughts Watty.

Delurking to say I have had a number of breast lumps, none of which turned out to be anything of concern. I used to panic at the speed I got seen but soon realised that it was normal for my area who had an amazing one stop clinic. You could be there hours but you would get a mammogram, ultrasound scan, see a consultant who would already have reviewed the scans and would then decide any treatment needed. If it was a cyst, that required needle aspiration, that would be done there and then as would a biopsy.
