Ah yes, I can relate to that. I have a marble topped dresser outside my small bathroom that has a single cupboard door on it. Inside are two plastic storage boxes that I rarely get out. A winter list job is to go through these and get rid of loads of stuff, (including the wrong brush heads for a long-gone electric toothbrush!) - having reduced the two plastic collapsible crates down to less than one over the last couple of years.
I was helped in my task by a junior carer charity that offers respite weekends for young carers. They would invariably arrive with no toiletries so all the hotel pick-ups, and gifts of stuff I would never use, went off to them. I have a couple of 32 packs of toilet rolls to drop off (I top up my big river subscriptions with these, so I get my 15% off the more expensive items) - the foodbank say they are really useful as it isn't something that people think to pick up. I was hoping that they might be associated with a night shelter that could take "tried once, not used since" toiletries for their bathrooms, but it seems this foodbank isn't linkedSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

I've donated some stuff and have more to donate too.
The ex has been in touch with the letting agent again, bullying her and threatening court action. She apparently just laughed. I'm shaking my head at how I felt on Sunday and comparing that to how I felt when ringing to apologise for his actions and to discuss a plan. I've had an email from his solicitor via my conveyancing solicitor. My conveyancing solicitor just forwarded it but I feel sick at the "here we go again merry-go-round" of more letters and him running up legal bills for me again.
I wonder when I will ever learn that this is now the real him.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I thought the property situation had been resolved? Do you actually have to respond? You must be so !!!!!! off, but need to realise that the person you see now has always been there.... just did a really good job of hiding it when it suited him. ((((hugs))))I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.

but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy2 -
Running up your legal bills is an exs form of enjoyment/control. My ex was with a woman whose best friend was a solicitor, can you imagine the fun they had! Over 30 years ago and most of my over £5k bill was for mine to reply to letters. Don't let the b*****s drag you down. Just remember a leopard does not change its spots. For leopard read a******.

I've redone security checks with my conveyancing solicitor. I presume so they can check I'm still the same person that appointed them so many years ago and sent the money I owe off to the solicitor in the hope the properties can transfer today as although his conveyancing solicitor is on holiday it seems someone is handling her files.
I then WhatsApp the ex to have a demand I the three months outstanding mortgage on the rental. I declined saying that could be dealt with outside of the property transfers. It could, and I'm prepared to set that against replacing my horsebox keys and the house keys, which is, I think, very nice of me
Seems he didn't agree and accused me of fraud so I switched my phone off and went to the local farmers market for tea and samosas from the lovely Indian stall. Spent £38 there on curries which seems a lot but there is enough there for 12 servings with a couple of sides if I split it all up into smaller boxes and freeze. The stall does home cooked Indian food and is delicious, sugar free and not very oily either.
Now the money is gone, I'm not going to get the rent or savings interest I am going to be a lot more frugal, and whilst i could cook some curries, having someone do it feels a luxury in the freezer!

Sorry that you are still having to wait to get the final legalities sorted. I do sympathise, having endured such a wait myself but the peace of mind when it goes through is worth the wait. Hope it all proceeds quickly now.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Unsurprisingly the sale did not go through. I understand from Faceb00k the ex is with the girlfriend which might account for the messages and theoretical line he took. I know from hearing her on the phone she winds him up and sets him off.
I laughed out loud at @Humdinger1's comment. I would not be so sure LOL There have been times during this process when I think I might have done a lot of things that were on the edge.
I've no idea why he didn't instruct his solicitor, I would have thought the knowledge all that cash could have been in his bank would have been sufficient incentive to push on but he is right. I have no incentive to do anything now. He messed me about long enough. At the rate this is going I'll probably end up with another month's rent.
Had big plans for the bank hols weekend but slept much of yesterday after osteopath. Evening date with the VNM. We walked across the fields to a local country house hotel with WattyDog and then had a couple of drinks on their terrace that is lit by fairy lights in a lovely garden then walked back in the dark. Rode Charming Cob this morning then worked today. I have a project I'm working on that I hope over the next 12 months will bring in an additional £3000 if all goes well.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Very sobering bank holiday. Went to visit a friend who had been in a car accident on a motorway and been airlifted to hospital. Her son showed me a picture of the car and I was astounded she was still alive, much less free from major injury.
So many people had taken her sweets and chocolates and wine that I made a big pot of lentil soup, about 8 servings and took that. She loves the soup so I felt it was a practical gift. That took up my bank holiday Monday but very sobering to realise how in an instant life could be so very different.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
