Well it sounds as if the council have accepted that a big chunk of the bill is not down to you, I just hope they chase the ex (why oh why do I automatically think his name is Idiot?) for his part of the joint bit. Very good that you have the 25% discount as well, that will bring it down even more. What a palaver though when you already have enough to do.
I am hoping to have time while I am in the area for a tea and cake with a friend next week, amazing how many problems seem easier to deal with after that. Shame we will be in Essex or you could join us for a horsey chat!

The council  are using that cringe worth term "jointly and severally liable"    Still onwards and upwards, I managed to sort the bank I am sure in time I can do the same here.

Tea and cake would be lovely.  I've just arranged to have similar with a friend this  morning and cancelled riding lesson with most handsome because I think the ex is removing wood and chain sawing etc by the arena, at least that is what he was doing yesterday and his car is parked by it today although he is not about.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Lovely tea and cake with friend in her new house yesterday.  It is gorgeous, well it will be in time.   Tiny, beautiful views to the back and so much potential.  I was excited for her.  Lovely to be with 5 girlfriends too.

After a bit of a rest I feel a little restored.  I think creative options are needed.   I am now working on these. I have a few options to explore now.

As part of this I am going to have to embark on a whole house declutter.  Put a piece of machinery back up for sale.  Added £100 to the price and still have some interest so glad for the price inflation.  Have emptied a cupboard of vases and "stuff" and have weeded out 8 small vases and 2 candlesticks.  The candlesticks were a 50th birthday gift from a dear friend but I've never really liked them. Last week bought a gorgeous pewter pair for £2.00 in local charity shop so I'm losing the guilt over swapping the very expensive pair for the cheap pair.  Oddly I don't want to sell them just donate them so later today will find something to wrap the vases and bits in and put in car to donate.
I do that watty, if I want to declutter something like your 50th birthday gift - I don't sell them, I don't like doing that, so I give them away, to an individual or an individual organisation that needs them.  I gave my lovely guitar to a local primary school whose music teacher I knew, and I gave a jumper I knitted to a member of this forum, ages ago.  Feels good!

I sometimes sell and donate the proceeds to a sort-of relevant organisation (eg when I sold some of my nan's things they went to Alzheimers UK, my dad's to the local animal rescue charity that he fostered cats for, etc)
