The joint bank account has been closed. Oh ye of little faith we got there in the end
It must have cost him more than the amount due to the bank to deal with it via his solicitors but not really my problem.
The council tax has been resolved in that we are jointly liable for the period neither of us say we lived here. I've a single persons discount from the date I moved in. I've paid my personal bill and sent the other bills of to his solicitor suggesting some element of compromise will be required, as with all matters surrounding our separation. I've asked for her suggestions. That should be entertaining!
I doubt that will get very far but it is another letter. I've also drafted a letter to go setting out some ideas for the cottage which I will send in a day or 2. Sort of along the lines that court action would be expensive so can we just move forwards with what we agreed and have done with it.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Very well done for sorting that out, one more thing ticked off the list. Great idea to split the letters, very nice and tidy to have one letter for each subject - for you at least, such a shame it will cost him every time his solicitor has to deal with them and answer you.
I would love to be a fly on the wall when the suggestions required one is receivedCredit card debt - NIL

Lovely weekend, spent time working on my plans for resolution. Will be following through on a multi pronged approach. One prong I will not mention on here just in case the ex does read (I don't think he does but absolution caution required on that approach). Have reached a decision to review progress at Easter and then decision to be over and done by June. This means the house may need to be empty and rented out or up for sale. As a step in that direction someone starts to repair some of the equine fencing today. If I buy the house I will be glad it is done, if the place is sold or rented then it needs to be done.
Obviously this means another letter to his solicitor to let her know the fencing is taking place and the costs and that his share will need to be deducted from any settlement figure that may or may not be happening.

Can see him saying he doesn't think the fencing needs repairing so you end up getting stung for the full cost.
