This Time I'm Really Going To Do It

Nice to read so many similar fans of the "scraped back in a scrunchie rural look"
Spending/saving frugal January hit what I can only describe as a roadblock. The gas ran out at the cottage a while ago (rural life so bottled LPG gas) and I made the decision not to buy more. Instead I bought an electric radiator for the office. Remarkably efficient and for work purposes I need to keep the electricity on even if electricity is expensive. Am not buying LPG gas to heat a house I don't live in.
The ex has twice now returned to the cottage dropped the dog off and left. Obviously I cannot leave the dog alone at the cottage so I stay there as dog will be a tad "challenging" at my rental. The last drop off the dog would have been alone for 19 hours if I had not stopped over. I am rethinking plans for Wattydog (Ex wants him and I had agreed but clearly he cannot take care of him). I have spoken with the breeder about finding him a foster home until I sort my life out. Sadly the breeder is of the opinion if I just sit down and chat with the ex all will be sorted and couldn't grasp how off the wall crazy and unreasonable he actually is. On the upside she did say she will have a chat with the owner of Wattydog "dad" and see if they can come up with a solution to have Wattydog taken care of for a couple of months while I sort somewhere to live with Wattydog.
Ex currently away with his girlfriend (has taken Wattydog) so the house is empty. It is more convenient for work and the horses for me to stay at the house - but - golly by gosh it is COLD with no heating. So I went out and bought a bag of logs, a bag of kindling and a bag of coal from a garage. £38 !! They are definitely catering for the "wouldn't it be nice to snuggle up in front of a real fire this evening" market as opposed to rural types who usually buy this stuff in bulk. In daylight I have found there is a stash of logs on the land I can burn to stay warm while I am here.
And final big expenditure was a bottle of fizz from the local garage and snacks for girlfriend who visited. In my lovely rental I have cheap fizz bought in sale and delicious snacks. Nothing here so more expenditure (sigh)
And then spoke to solicitor so that is probably another £1000 bill racked up (sigh) but it is a last hurrah for solicitor as about to change (current not aware of that as there is a chance might pull of this last hurrah).
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!3 -
Well just been reading up on the licence rules. @BellaLasagna2018 and @Karmacat were right. A licence is not needed for the radio even if I listen via BBC Sounds or the Iplayer. A licence is needed for watching live TV but not catch up or streaming. Unless I watch BBC via the iplayer.
So I need to decide what I actually am going to watch. Hence making a note of it to decide what going forwards should be kept.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I especially enjoyed watching the Winter Walks series that were (re)shown over Christmas. I also watch a fair bit of Channel 4 TV. So I guess I am the archetypal middle aged, middle England sixty-something fan. And appalled by the half announcement by the Culture, Media and Sport Minister. Her credentials include taking part in "I'm a Celebrity..." I personally think it represents excellent value for money and public service broadcasting is superb in this country.
I am not middle England nor sixty-something but I too am a big fan of the BBC and I am willing to pay for the service. I also watch many of Channel 4 offerings in addition to our subscription services.
Equally, if you find you are not using any of the services you need a license for i support people not having a license.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Have decided to keep licence. I like the BBC and can often find something to watch on the I player. Use Amazon too but the others can go.
Sorted.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I should say Daughterofsatan is a PIA but there's no malice in her, and Puppylove just rolls her eyes and silently asks me when I'm sending her back.4
