Yes @LadyWithAPlan I agree 100%! He will be missing you terribly @Watty1 and as he'll be taking himself into the next relationship, it's set to run all over again...also agree re selling the land 10 years and 1 day on! Onwards and upwards love Humdinger xx

Oh I am so on the 10 years and 1 day LOL    The agreement is dated so the clock is already ticking. Although of course his solicitor may insist we remove the date and start again.  It was an idea so I took it. It may not fly.

Finally realised we are playing different games.  I am playing the "lets settle this as quickly and reasonably as possible" and he is playing the "lets hurt Watty or at least irritate her" game and is being assisted in that by his solicitor.

This finally dawned on me yesterday when I asked him just to tell me what he wanted rather than run up pointless legal bills and he asked for more money that he had said via his solicitor.  I was baffled and explained that isn't how it worked and when would he next be speaking with his solicitor and he said a week or two.  He had yet to "schedule an appointment".

Clearly he has no interest in settling, rather just frustrating me and making me continue to pay rent.

In car news I have looked at the ads the VNM has sent me and actually concluded I don't want an old cheap car.  He has done sterling work in identifying some low mileage old cars.  Even indulging my fantasy of a convertible car.   Todays ad was for my fantasy car of an Audi TT convertible (over budget but affordable).    However I'm worried about driving something old.  I really don't need the stress or the idea of something that might need work over the next few months.  I just want to get in, turn the key and go.  And not worry for the next 12 months about that.

Sorry Watty, but he's just a self centred narcissitic conman and you'll be well rid of him.

When I was having continual car issues, a friend suggested I get a Ford fiesta as every garage can look after them and they're cheapish. Then you could get one you like more when you have enough brain space to search for one you really like x

This one might get long.  Apologies.
I selected my car.  Lovely. Very nice 4 wheel drive and was on the verge of doing a deal when Most Handsome Pony took ill.    Most Handsome has been in the vet hospital for 4 nights and no one knows what is wrong with him although he is now eating and pooping and has been described by the vet student who is looking after him as "the very opposite of dull".  An internal medicine vet was called to look at him today and after a lovely chat we have concluded he seems to be getting better and he will xray the stomach today in case there is some sand in the colon and then he can come home tomorrow if all his blood test markers indicate his health is going the right way.   (Most handsome lives on sandy soil with a lot of sand in as sand quarry opposite).  As a precaution will now start feeding psyllium husks once a month for a week on vet advice.

I'm exhausted, I dread to think about the bill (hence car plans halted) and I am thankful I did not cancel his insurance so at least some of this will be covered.    I have had to stay at the former home as the Charming Cob is on his own and I wanted to be sure he did not come down with whatever it was/is and also he was ok alone.  Thankfully he is.

And the ex issues just continue.  Picked up my business mail today and found a letter addressed to us both from South East Water.  Turns out he has added me back to the account so I am liable for half of it.  I rang and explained I had moved out and only stay overnight at the house when I house sit the Watty dog or have a sick horse.  Explained have own bills and then told the lovely lady the whole sorry story.  She told me the calls were recorded and I said great so you have a recording of him saying I live here?  Yes she said. Great. I said play it next to the one that says I don't and the upshot was I have been taken back off the bill. Saving of £160.  In the scheme of the mess not a lot but at least that is one bill I am not liable for.

Ran my solicitor again.   Said please can we make him settle.  Apparently not.  She says we can't chase again as we look weak.  I just want this to be over so badly.   At least as Most Handsome is in vet hospital and Charming Cob ok alone in stable I can go home tonight.  Really looking forward to seeing my lovely little place, bath and bed.

Could not use car last night so stayed at the house.  Explained to the ex I am only there because of the horses.   And I had taken myself off the water bill .  He whined about the fact I was still banking the rent from the rental and I simply said settle and that resolves that.   To which he had no answer except to tell me he and his solicitor would reply in their own time. Fair enough I said. I'll put the rent to my next legal bill rather than the water bill.  Settle and I'll pay the water bill and you'll get the rent.  Then I went to bed and shut the door.  I'm learning.

Vet has already rung and if blood tests still show improvement Most Handsome Pony can come home.

And yet he doesn't feel guilty that you overpaid and he didn't acknowledge it or feel guilty enough that he is being difficult even though he commented that hadn't got a better deal.  Stay strong Watty, you are looking after yourself and he is probably finding it a little strange.
    Sending you hugs x
