So far so good on the Access issue.
The ex is away with the dog and so I'm staying at the house which makes working easy. Woke up this morning to find the barn alarm had gone off at 4.25 am. Checked the horses and the alarm to discover someone had broken the barn window in an attempt to gain access. Previous break-ins and encouraged Mr Watty to be very security conscious so the window has a metal grill in front and a tarp and is boarded up on the inside. Slightly at a loss as to why the intruder did not break one of the other double windows at the other side that are not boarded up and so should have been easier to gain entry from but then I don't have a criminal mindReported it to the police just because I felt I should even though nothing missing and had a visit from two lovely Crime Scene Investigators who found nothing (as I suspected). The ex has taken all the tools including those which one could suggest were jointly owned so have no way of boarding up the broken window. Luckily a friend has popped round and found a sheet of metal in the barn and is going to use that to board up and has a few tools in his boot which he thinks will fix it.. Wondering if I should remind the ex that on coming into the relationship I had a tool kit and therefore would like to leave with one? thoughts?

More from solicitor today. His and mine were due to have a telephone conversation without prejudice to try and thrash out a deal but it seams he is not moving his position and his solicitor set about repeating everything that was said in the hearing. From somewhere my solicitor apparently told his it wasn't worth the money discussing and could we have something in writing? Seems he and his solicitor not able to do that and repeated their offer so I simply said "can you tell them to shove it?" There was a bit of a pause so I explained that I was happy with her using a more professional sentence that "my client tells your client to stick up it his proverbial ..." but that was my response. And added he could just spend the money going to litigation to force the sale of the houses if he wished but I imagine that will be expensive. And there ends my update.
In MSE terms I am a failure having treated myself to an expensive advent calendar. One of those which comes with fairy lights and little houses with gifts in. Each night in December I will be able to light a candle or use a shower gel or some other treat. I'm justifying this because - well - actually there is no justification it is entirely frivolous. But come December my plan is that I will have a home somewhere even if it is rented, the horses and the cat will be installed in said home with me plus my business will be settled and Mr W will not be able to contact me because he will be blocked on all forms of communication. And each evening I will celebrate with my advent calendar and a glass of wineOh I'm giving up wine so maybe not the wine

That sounds like an awesome advent calendar and a perfect plan. Go Watty! (Your name autocorrected to 'earth'!)

Conversation with the ex. He does not want any kind of a deal and if I cant buy his half for what he wants then tough the house must be sold.
Vary between deep depression and rage.
And then the flip side of the coin. A lovely friend cooked me dinner this evening shared a bottle of lovely wine and her husband drove me how. On the one hand mood all over the place on the other I recognise how blessed I am.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Watty what an a*se he is. You are set for much better things. If the house is sold, how much will you get? It might be useful to start thinking about what you could do with that money...fresh start? Love Humdinger xx2

Watty, is the price he wants more than he would likely to get if you sell? I am so sorry you are having to go through this and he is still being difficult even after saying he thought the settlement was unfair on you. You definitely deserve better xMFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200
