Watty, I'm sure you're right, that its a bit of both - dug his head in the sand/ been like it always/ other options too, sadly. But he's made that his own problem, and not something you share - yourself and your lovely animals, plus your financial safeguards, are your priorities now.
Your trips sound great! Love the idea of just a day's hire of a beach hut rather than buying one. Ideal2023: the year I get to buy a car2 -

Well after a read up the first thing I realised was my food spend it too high. So back to meal planning. Living in two places makes it all a bit of a muddle but one thing I can do to cut costs immediately is to start using stuff in the freezer that can be considered mine so dinner last night was a lovely trout fillet in pastry with boiled new potatoes and a salad whilst watching the 2nd Harry Potter film. I've decided to watch them all again. Disappointed to find I could not watch them free of charge anywhere but watching with a friend so sort of half price. Then after that I've watched them it will be no more paid for movies. (Another saving).Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Goodness it is cold and damp here. Also viewing the cottage as my work place gives rise to a conundrum. Do I buy dishwasher tabs or not? Mr Watty uses the dishwasher mainly so not. Then again I do eat lunch here so maybe. Ah the triviality of it all. Which is definitely better than thinking about the bigger issues. Speaking of which all papers now in with solicitor and sent off. Finding it a little difficult to focus on work. Or much else really. Got to work and Mr W left with dog. No idea where. Such an odd set of circumstances really. A large part of me wants to be nice and chat and see how his mum is and ask where he is off to and I have to remind myself that we have moved on from any kind of being nice to fighting via solicitors which is not nice and not something friends of any description do. (sigh)Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

That's very powerful to remember that no matter how normal things seem face to face, they're not normal, you're having to use the courts because he's creating problems
As for the dw tabs ... oh boy, yes, that it should come to this. But it sounds like you're thinking pre-emptively. If I was bringing my own lunch into that sort of environment, then honestly, I'd take my plate and cup home to wash there. Just for peace of mind, really2023: the year I get to buy a car3 -

If I was bringing my own lunch into that sort of environment, then honestly, I'd take my plate and cup home to wash there. Just for peace of mind, reallyI looked at it the other way round and bought a dishwasher tab with me from home. Arrived here, bought the horses in from the field for breakfast and snooze time and discovered the dishwasher was on as he had bought a box of 10. Again that made me laugh. No sign of him this morning as he is shut in the room he is sleeping in I yelled up to see if the dog had been fed and apparently so and then I came to work. All good. I'll leave the dishwasher tab in my desk for emergency use🤣
In other news feeling very unfocused again but have made a list of things to do which include working out my Apple ID so i can cancel an app subscription and returning some clothes all of which count as money saving. Was astonished the clothes didn't fit so tried on a few dresses to discover I have put on a LOT of weight and nothing fitsNow wondering if it is better to try and loose the weight or buy a couple of smarter bits for work now we can go out again. I've lived in leggings and two outsized summer dresses for the last 6 months so hadn't noticed the weight gain

Complete breakdown in the local spa yesterday. 5 of us planned a girly afternoon with massages and/or pedicures or manicures or both. I opted for a massage and half way through began to sob and called a halt to it. After a good cry I thought I would be able to re-join the girls and have a giggle but sat there for a couple of mins and realised I couldn't and left. Cried all the way to the cottage That day didn't quite go as planned. Revived myself with a cup of tea and chocolate biscuit fed the horses and returned to the rental where I spent the evening under a blankie on the sofa. Mood a little brighter today.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
