This Time I'm Really Going To Do It

Was thinking about the financial independence thing yesterday and the whole idea of buying somewhere cheap to live near where one works and saving hard etc and began to wonder if I could do it backwards. Have left it way to late to do it that way, although we could rescue the situation by selling up and moving close to where Mr Watty works - but- we can hardly put the horses and dog on a balcony in Peckham (not that Peckham is cheap :rotfl:). But I did wonder if there was anyway to rescue where we are and so I did an internet search and I found my dream property in West Wales. By the sea with 10 acres and an Edwardian house too. Gorgeous.
Mr Watty refuses to move to Wales as he has a firm belief that the local Welsh community would not accept "incoming English".
But I did find a very interesting property in Cornwall. That had potential. To my utter surprise Mr Watty said he was so fed up with his life that Cornwall might be possible and did I want to go and see it. Farm with two small holiday rentals on site and potential for a third.
Now not entirely sure I would upsticks to Cornwall but it has been interesting researching itMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Oh that *is* interesting! I've lived in this county where I currently live for over 30 years, and my sister is only 10 miles away, and I'm getting on a bit, but .... I do wonder.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Morning Watty1
How exciting:j , Sounds fab, You just never know, things are "meant" to be.
I remember watching a programme about a couple, who weren't even looking for property, saw an old derelict house in France, showed to her husband who said "We're having that" She said "Me wants it"Upped sticks to France.
I find some of my more interesting thoughts just "pop" into my head and before you know it, things are moving along by express. Sending Good vibes that it's perfect for you both.Always have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's :dance:MF[STRIKE] March 2030[/STRIKE] Yes that does say 2030  Mortgage Free 21.12.18 _party_Now a Part Timer from 27.10.190 -
Watty, with everything I do if something happens or an idea comes into my head that I hadn't planned that gets me interested/excited I investigate it. I am a firm believer in things happening or ideas presenting themselves when they are most appreciated.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Oooh - I love random thoughts which are then picked up as an actual possibility by someone else

Buying a btl started off as a random thought, ended up retiring early on the income from four so I'm all in favour

Ooh, exciting. Wales was our plan until it got derailed by politics...so pretty there.
Would Mr Watty continue to work in London? Our plan is to continue to work London-based jobs from far away from London, which would give us the best of both worlds re: income and low cost of living. I'm hoping that within 5ish years we'd be in a position to not "need" to work our jobs anymore, though we'd likely keep doing it for another 20ish years due to love of it.0 -
Cornwall sounds exciting and a perfect set up, definitely worth investigating. I think the best ideas come from random thought processes!0

Watty that is very exciting! Re. West Wales, that is where we plan to move to once the kids have flown the nest. DH family have a home there, and we have always been welcomed by the locals with open arms.
Keep us posted please xxMFW

Well the Welsh house was my dream home. Everything I would want, Edwardian, lots of lovely land, ancient stone path to the sea, sea views from the front, pony views from the back. And the house "looked" like I would love a house to look. But it would not buy independence totally.
So whilst I think the Welsh would be lovely I just let Mr Watty away with his comments.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
