Take care Watty, hope the care home will give you a bit of respite yourselves xx0

It is such a steep learning curve, Watty. We looked at 2 homes near my mum. One reminded me of a cheap hostel, cramped corridors, smelling of urine. The other was much better, yet it cost... over £900 PER WEEK. Yikes. (It was a nursing home rather than care, but nevertheles...)
Have you considered getting an LPA to be allowed to deal with things that the EPA doesn't? I thougnt our EPA would be sufficient, but it looks like it may not be. We shall ask the solicitor if it is worth doing it asap.
Hope kitty is cheering you up.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
I'm glad you were able to find a home with the right experience of his difficulties and his rehabilitation ... sorry it's an added drain for you, though, Watty.
Thanks. We were lucky, apparently they rarely have spaces but someone died that day. My comment “how lucky” was taken rather badly J as was my comment that they rather too well at keeping people alive J I knew what I meant!

Interesting comment re LPA. Will have to look into that. I must admit I have shelved the EPA stuff as well. I just couldn’t cope. Mr Watty’s dads home in in excess of £1000 per week ….yikes indeed.
How's the sleep going?
Surprisingly much better even with all that has been going on. Nowhere near perfect but I can honestly say things are improving. Throwing money at the problem – err – I mean – carefully considered spending has indeed helped (Wake up light alarm clock, electric blanket, smelly spray stuff) as has removing phone and computer from near the bed. I haven’t yet removed the kindle – but – I often think of you when I am thinking “lights out by 11.30 latest” :rotfl:
How are you doing with the sleep thing Alex?Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Well he only has 2 weeks in there, but, we have decided not to push to get him home and just let it take the time it takes. Everyone has been clear it is just for 2 weeks, but, the home manager has suggested that we just sit it out and see what happens as they are not going to physically remove him. He is now a week overdue on his anti-psychotic dose so he will shortly lose the plot anyway  and the care home are aware of that and are pushing the mental health team to actually do something. The system is quite clearly broken. And while he is there we have some respite as you say.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

At least the care home are aware of the issues and what can happen - I'm hoping (don't want to assume) that they are capable of handling the situation if he becomes psychotic? - which would hopefully make it slightly easier for you and Mr W?
Care home fees are astronomical - my aunt's m-I-l is just about to go into one just up the road from me - @ £1K per week.
Had to smile at your comments to care home staff - I would probably have said similar!

I'm so sorry to hear things are not good for your Father-in-Law and hope he gets the medication sorted before things get worse.
As for sleep :rotfl:, it's terrible at the moment, Watty. I'm not managing bedtime well and falling to sleep has become increasingly difficult again. Re. lights out by 11.30 ... I don't even know how I managed that for the time I did.2018 totals:

I didn't manage it last night either. But I did get up in time so I am considering that a successAnd I did think of you gone midnight. Mr Watty thinks it hilarious that I have been know to mutter wonder if Alex is doing any better :rotfl:

Yes they are more than capable. It is one of only two places in the county that will take him given his issues. The manager suggested that although social services told us it was a 2 week respite package we simply leave them to get on with it. I am so glad the lovely manager said that, because I thought it but knew Mr Watty would not agree and would start work on the "return home" details as the two weeks were up. Lovely manager persuaded Mr Watty that the best approach was for us to do nothing and Mr Watty has agreed he cannot go home until he is totally stable on his mental health medication so there dad stays for now. Although we have daily calls and requests it is a welcome relief for sure.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Puppy went to day care for the first time yesterday. £15 well spent. I worked all day, Mr Watty was out and a tired puppy came home :T
Puppy disgraced himself by biting another dog so I just apologised and said hopefully the other dog had taught puppy some manners. As I did not go into meltdown over my "baby" day care lady assured me puppy's grazes and scrapes are well deserved.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Good - the home sounds just what is needed for Mr W senior - and you and Mr W x
Naughty puppy! - but glad he came home tired - I guess it's just like paying for nursery fees for a small child! :rotfl:
