One day, I dream I'll be able to live in a 'tiny house' a la the craze in America! I'd have to part with all my kitchen stuff though, so doubt it'll happen!

I keep struggling with this. On the one hand, we essentially only live in half our house (smaller part of our L shaped lounge, bedroom, and kitchen). On the other hand, our kitchen is a decent size and is pretty full of appliances/food/etc (I imagine part of the tiny house/minimalist movement would be to walk to the local shops daily to get fresh food, thus no need for a large fridge/freezer, slow cooker, etc.) Plus we have storage in the half of the house that we don't use daily.

I think our best "tiny house-esque" option is to go with a smaller house than we have now (perhaps a 1-bedroom bungalow?) and then add other options (outbuildings, what-have-you) for the less-daily things like office, storage, possible guest space, etc. I'm not sure if that's really practical over just having a larger house that has those things in it, but I do like the separation of purpose...at the weekends office space could be ignored, storage space would need heating only, etc.

I adore the tiny house concept. Although I do think adequate storage would be key as in a place for everything worked out. I think that is where our somewhat large 3 bedroom place falls down - there is no where really for the hoover the ironing board or the brooms!

Good day! Appointment made with property in Cornwall. Another pile of items ready to ebay and bids on some bits that are being auctioned so all positive there. Two items sold and posted.

Took Most Handsome for a lovely hack with neighbour, the sun shone and it was felt so good to be out. Most Handsome coping without shoes. Clearly feeling it a little as lame in trot but was ok just to walk so hoping this will work out well.
Appointment made with possible mentor for business tomorrow morning. This was someone recommended as a business coach so will see what she is like.
And finally kitten is playing happily in office, and is happy to sit on my lap when she feels like it. I haven't let her into the rest of the house yet, but, certainly could not describe her as feral now :)

I find there's always more to declutter - it's a constant process of evaluation. One day, I dream I'll be able to live in a 'tiny house' a la the craze in America! I'd have to part with all my kitchen stuff though, so doubt it'll happen!
yes I don't think I could part with a lot of stuff in the kitchen, but, I am surprised at what is not making the grade with the "will I pay someone to pack this and move it to Cornwall" question. A least a shelf of books has gone and yet I did declutter the books last year!

I really like these approaches to decluttering. I need to work through our house and am wondering if I can get Mr AJM to work this way with me??? The alternative is to declutter as much as I can and then do it again with him doing his stuff. Unfortunately once something becomes part of the furniture he seems to be unable to see it...

This is exactly our problem too - where are you meant to put these tall things?! (Our cupboard under the stairs is divided in two, we have to keep hoover upstairs, very inconvenient with messy cats!)

Excellent news about kitten Watty - she's come on leaps and bounds :D

Mr Watty doesn't notice clutter either. Although he did ask me if I thought we had a use for the paint for our old house - bless him - the house has had tenants in for the last 10 years and the paint must be 15 years old! He says he cannot see how he can clear up his barn without a week off.
I'm thinking of giving him a skip bucket and just asking him to fill it once a fortnight to go out with the rubbish. I don't know if this plan will work but I'm going to try it.

Some of you may remember encouraging me to try life coaching last year. Well I never did although it remained on my to sort list.
At a recent get together with colleagues one of them was chatting about the coaching programme she had signed up for last year and what she had done with her business in the last 6 months. It was quite a remarkable story.
It resonated because I want to develop my own business so I got details of her business coach, and met with her today as she happened to be in the area. Turns out she is also a life coach and doesn't think one can do one without the other.
Liked her. Not cheap - but - not too expensive and have signed up a three month trial period which will be a one hour session once a fortnight.
What with that and the Cornwall Project and the decluttering there may be a shift in the energy this year after all. CBT counselling appointment came through too :)
