Made arrangements to get the back garden sorted out. Hope person works out as I found them on an internet search. Quote was half my total maximum spend and the plan is to simply turf over most of the beds. I think this will tidy it up and make garden a lot easier to keep. Not as attractive as the labour intensive garden we used to have that puppy has set about wrecking but, if we sell the house it will look maintained and I think that may be important. Work starts 6th March.

Cleared the rest of a hedge away. Now looks very tidy. The spent the afternoon sorting Mr Watty's dad's paperwork. Short break in the afternoon to take puppy to the shop to buy him a new collar and ID disc. Also bought a collar for kitten, not sure if she will wear it but it might be a plan if she goes out around the neighbourhood.

Great end results on the china - what lovely responses from your buyers! :)

Can I ask how you've packed it and who you used to send it? - I have some discontinued Waterford crystal and discontinued Denby I'd love to sell (so people who want it for their sets could have it rather than the local CS sell it for 99p/ item randomly - and to get the money of course!) but am concerned in posting it. Thank you :)

How lovely of your buyers to get in touch!

I'd love to know about sending fragile stuff too - I've got bids on a Disney snow globe on Ebay at the moment... worried about packing that for sending!

I had a hunch that I might one day ebay some of this vintage china so I had saved some small boxes and any packing bubble wrap or air filled packing that had been sent. I had a shelf full. Now all gone!
Mostly I have wrapped it in bubble wrap - or in kitchen roll then bubble - or in the case of todays plates newspaper. Then nestled the bubble wrapped items in the box surrounded by whatever light weight packing I had saved. When that ran out I used shredded paper from the shredding machine.
Once wrapped all the china has seemed to me to be well cushioned. It hasn't all arrived safely yet but I am hopeful. The small boxes were definitely worth having.
Mostly I have sent by Royal Mail - partly because the mail is collected here.
And used second class post as it wasn't all as heavy as I expected.
I really faffed up on the 8 teacups and saucers and the complete tea service postal charges though. I way undercharged - and once wrapped and weighed I realised that. It cost me £5 more than I charged for those item as I sent them via DHL. That sounds extravagant but via my business I have a deal which lets me charge £11 for all UK parcels under a certain size. There were probably cheaper options but I just went for the "send easily" option.
So, my suggestion would be to save wrapping materials and or shredded paper from shredders. That has made sending the stuff easy as I had something to cushion it to protect it.
A few bits haven't sold and I will wait till I get more packing material before relisting I think as the shredded paper is heavier than the bubble wrap and little chips or plastic air filled pocket wrap.

It sounds like the packaging went well Watty! Thanks for sharing - I've got some air cushion things floating around (tend to keep all packaging until it gets too much and then I freecycle it) - so will make use of them!

Wasn't all quite as successful as I hoped. I had a message yesterday that one cup had broken in transit. Bit surprised at that as it was very well wrapped and couldn't help a suspicion that it had broken on the unwrapping creeping in. As it was an odd number of cups anyway and I had sold the complete set of cups, sugar bowl and milk jug together I wasn't really sure how to handle that one, especially as I had initially thought about selling them all as 'singles' as they were so pretty. Eventually I wrote what I hoped was a friendly reply saying how said I was and that I knew how upsetting it was as it had happened to me and my resolve was just to smile and bless it. That I was willing to resolve for her but didn't know how. And she replied that she would just let it go. Which was great as she had a bargain on the set I felt anyway and didn't want to give a refund!

Bay of E baffling. Sunday evening 4 soup bowls went unsold and so I relisted them - someone could have picked them up for less than a £1 each. The set of 4 is now at £19.10 !!

Boo to the cup breaking, but a good result there. It can be difficult knowing what to say!

Great result on the soup bowls though!
