  • Love the cat antics, sounds like a real character who knows what he wants!
  • Watty how big do Fells get? Is there a 16hh version.
I have decided I need one!

Have been away for the weekend. Cat has spent the weekend amusing Mr Watty. Am reluctant to post photo as someone might just recognise kitty and it is not so much being known that bothers me but that Mr and Mrs Laurel Hedges would then know. Mind you, might save me from telling them to cut the blooming hedge - could just put a note on here :)

SHS Fells max size is 14 hhh by breed standard. Now, the ideal native if you like Fell Ponies would be a Dales. They are very similar being from the other side of the Pennines but are larger. They start at around 14 hh and the breed standard is around 14.3 hh but they are often bigger than that and they take up a lot of leg being chunky. They are very similar to Fells but have a more horse head with a longer nose (they should be able to drink out of a teacup say Dale fans and Fell nose would never get in a teacup!!). Would make an ideal mum / daughter share!

  • That could be it then!
Ha ha I can picture the teacup.

Just put kitty out. She has been here since about 9 am. Putting her out was very difficult. I would carry her out and sit her on the wall, she would jump off and run back to the house before I could get there. The second time she squeezed herself into a place I couldn't get her. 3rd time I said firmly the owners would worry and just deposited her outside back door and locked it. I feel heartless. She wailed. I have walked away. They will call her in in the next few hours...hopefully soon it is pouring hard with rain here.

  • Morning Watty, what a difficult position. Kitty can't be happy at home if she/he's voting with her/his feet.

Doesn't sound like they are cat lovers. Mine won't put a paw outside if it's raining, snowing, too cold :rotfl:

    Good luck. Tilly x x x x

Kitty came in at 8.00 when I went to feed and turn out ponies. She clearly is much better, more lively, up to exploring and no longer feels so bony when I pick her up. It really is a difficult position. I don't want to admit I have been feeding her but it must surely be obvious to them someone is as she no longer is just skin and bones. And please believe me - she really was very underweight. And she has a lot more bounce in her step and is so much brighter in her eyes.

Poor kitty, I'm glad she's looking better!

Depending on how observant Mr and Mrs Laurel Hedges are, they may not notice. Our boy cat mooches food off neighbours (or used to, anyway), and it doesn't seem to make much difference to his outward appearance. He's borderline underweight (bossy sister tries to steal his food at every meal), but I do wish the neighbours wouldn't feed him as he's very sensitive and I don't know what they're giving him. That said, he seems fine so far so either he's not mooching often or whatever he's getting agrees with him. ;)

It worried me that they might be trying to feed her up and that I was *interfering* in an unhelpful way. I also worry she is sensitive to some foods and I'm making things worse.

Mr Watty refuses to discuss this as he is convinced the poor little scrap was starving and holds up the evidence of the fleas as proof things were not going well in the Laurel Hedges Household.

Honestly if it was any of you lovely lot I would pop round and just ask .....but really Mr & Mrs Laurel Hedges
