arguing over school uniform

  • I have just been supermarket shopping for uniform. 4 pairs of trousers at £4 each, 6 shirts at £1 each, some socks... where does he get £200 from? My son will be wearing last years jumpers which still fit and have hardly been worn. He will also be wearing his old shoes as they still fit and I bought them about Easter. I will get him more before Christmas as although they fit, they are a bit worn. I have just given the a good polish. I also got him a winter coat ready for the cold weather from M&S outlet for £12 - should have been £34. A bargain and he loves it :)

If the OP was the father, some forum members would say that he was an irresponsible parent who fails to live up to the obligations of looking after his offspring. I do look forward to hearing what those forum members say in this case, give it is the mother who is not paying.

    Bingo!

I think its two days running for that one, not bad going.

I would have posted the same thing to a man, children cost more than the benefits one gets so I would expect to cover any expenses above that 50-50.

Also Op if you offered to contribute at the beginning of summer, i can see why your ex is miffed you now say no. Not his problem if you spent the money in the meanwhile.

There was a father on MSE recently who was having the children for half the week and paying CM. I thought that each parent should have responsibility for one child and be able to claim CB.

Unless there is a dramatic difference in income between the two households, I don't see why parents who share care 50/50 should have to pay CM. However, the parents do need to co-operate over the larger expenses - clothing, clubs, etc.
