  • The OP did wash it off with soapy water then used a hose to thoroughly rinse as my sink is a normal size sink and it all didnt fit in to rinse (

But this isn't what you stated in your opening post. You clearly stated that you used the hose to remove the cleaning solution,
I then thoroughly cleaned the door with a hose pipe to make sure no solution was on there. I repeated this process several times
and despite being asked a couple of times since, you didn't confirm that you followed the instructions by using warm soapy water.

Personally, I have used Oven Pride, Doktor Power and Poundland oven cleaners (I assume they're basically the same) extensively over the last 5 years or so on several ovens, I always use them to clean the glass, and if possible remove the glass to do so. The only parts I try to avoid cleaning with these products are the oven seals. I have never had an oven door "explode" after cleaning in this way. The only time I have ever experienced oven door glass "exploding" was on a 2 month old oven that had never been cleaned - the manufacturer replaced the glass and stated that this does occasionally happen, and it is almost always the result of imperfections in the glass, or incorrect fitting.

Jeez, give it rest, will you?

She presumably told us she hosed it down to make the point that she was careful to make sure all the cleaner had gone. And she's now told us she used soapy water first. Satisfied now?

No one thinks that the cleaner caused the explosion so there's no need to keep harping on about it as it's not relevant. Or are you one of the people referred to above who gets their rocks off trying to make others look as incompetent as possible?

    OP does........

    Correction:

    OP did.

She seems to be a reasonable and intelligent person so it may well be that she has understood the arguments that it was unlikely to have been the cleaner.

Oh, okay. Perhaps if you'd just said that you hadn't long been living alone it wouldn't have sounded like you were defining 28 year old women as a bit useless. Neither your age nor your sex should be used as excuses!

Well when my house and car windows get greasy and grimey from hand prints and the like and need a clean I will use Doktor Power Oven Cleaner on it because ovens commonly have glass so it must fricking work, even though it says it is only for use on Steel and enamel.
I often use the main ingredient of doktor power oven cleaner to clean greasy grimey glassware and it come up a treat..:)

    Nope.

I just must have missed the post where you agreed that it most likely was damaged by either being removed/replace or being hosed down in the garden or residue left behind or not seating the glass correctly.
