I purchesed the doktor power oven cleaner and cleaned my oven yesterday. I was delighted with the product it brought my oven up sparkling clean. I used some solution on the oven door as it was quite marked... It brought the door up gleaming I then thoroughly cleaned the door with a hose pipe to make sure no solution was on there. I repeated this process several times. I hen proceeded to go out and buy some more as its on offer at sainsburys at the moment and I'd told my mum about it and she wanted some.
Today I went to use the oven... And it exploded everywhere ! I had food in there which was ruined! I was extremely lucky it didn't hurt me or my dog whom was in the kitchen at the time.
I only used this stuff on the oven ... No where on the packaging does it state not to be used on glass... I rang jml who said it can't be used on glass.. And basically didn't help... I've ordered new glass £63.74 ... But do I have any rights?? It shouldn't do that should it? Advice please......

Think you are on your own here, it is only for use on metal and enamel.0

It says absolutely nothing about what you can use it on?0

This might be a stupid question but what makes you think it was the cleaner that made the oven door explode?0
-
There's a strong chance that in cleaning the glass it may have got small scratches, or have moved slightly in its seating, both of which would be pretty good contenders for shattering glass. Unless the cleaning product is hydrofluoric acid (it isn't, BTW, or you wouldn't have hands left) it's unlikely to directly affect the glass chemically.0

It's an oven cleaner.
Ovens are made with glass. (Many ovens have glass doors.)
If the cleaner is what caused the explosion you are certainly not 'on your own' if the product did not specify that it could not be used on glass.
That is very basic SOG Act stuff as it would clearly not be fit for purpose. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

It didn't say anything about not using on glass :-( thank you for sticking up for me :-)0 -

Can you take pictures of the packaging?
Not that I don't believe you but the product description on amazon says metal and enamel, so it seems very odd that this important piece of info was omitted from the products packaging... Not having one to hand I cannot check...0 -
