Hey HOK3Y!
You've done so well with your debt - you've done the hardest part and got it under 20k from now on it'll just start looking better and better!!!!
Mondays - how cold and dreary! But the promise of shutting down more debts this week kinda makes me happy!!!!!! OH gets paid tomorrow yay!!!!!!! Lets bust some debts - due to shut down 3 debts this week - fingers crossed!!!
I'd love to get a second job again but OH has put his foot down as I had 2 jobs for a year and worked myself til I was ill so he wants me to enjoy my free time! Which is nice! Just have to angle for a pay rise instead!!!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

Hey HOK3Y,
Woo hoo for your 8%!!!! I'm the same, only colour in a square when I've done a full 1%.
We're a bit like you at the moment, locking ourselves away to try and stop spending money, but we are going to make a bit more effort to go out and do free things. Walking the hound is a great excuse to go to the beach for the day. As long as we pack a flask of tea as well there is no need to spend. It's hard to get the motivation though when it's getting colder and darker!!
We're trying to hold off on the heating too. I've brought a couple of blankets down from the cupboard and put them on the sofa so we can huddle under them and we've taken to lighting a couple of candles in the evening if we are just watching telly, no need for having extra lights on. We're going to try and make it to the end of November with no heating!! Not sure if this will happen or not though!!!0 -
Hi C-R and wegle! Thank you, thank you for the encouragement. I do feel good about what we have achieved so far. It would be helpful if my impatience could knock itself down a level or two!
Never have I anticipated a payday with such ferocity! I cannot wait to transfer a chunk of this money and see my signature amounts drop. It's an addictive feeling and I definitely want more!
Getting rid of 3 debts in one week, C-R!! God that's going to be bl**dy brilliant! You will need to do something to celebrate! I tell you, when I get rid if that darned CC, I will definitely be celebrating! I'm thinking Betty's for dinner, which won't be cheap but will be deserved!
Wegle, yes!! Hold out on the heating! We are absolutely refusing to turn it on and candles are definitely going to be part of the arsenal. They do provide warmth too if you keep the door to the room closed. So, no heating until late November if at all possible! I refuse to have massive energy bills this winter.
It's been a pretty crazy day in the office and I am ready to relax this evening. I did find £1 coin on my way back from the post office at lunchtime and was chuffed to bits about that!I have the rest of my EBay packages to mail tomorrow so here's to finding more roadkill on the way!

Hello S-U! Thanks for saying hello and oh my! A fiver! Score!
It is really amazing how much money is lying around and many people will not lower themselves to stop and pick up a penny - I consider this madness! Since Jan 1st I have found well over £20 on the streets, and I have found 3 fivers in the last 16 months......which should give you some idea of just how often they are dropped. When you remember that they won't stay on the floor for long as anyone would snatch it up, for one person to find 3 in a little over a year means that overall there has to be an awful lot of these dropped......which means opportunity so keep your eyes peeled!!
One more sleep and then BAM!!!! I get to give my cc a right hook!. Can't wait for the pennies to come in in December from the jewellery sale because that's going to be a good swift kick to the groin! I'm going to beat it into oblivion!!
I'm thinking I may have had some tough dreams last night......! Lol!
Hope everyone is feeling positive and ready for a new day - one day closer to DF. It has been a goooood debt busting day! I have found a penny and 2 5ps, one of which was right next to a piece of paper that hubby was checking out to possibly womble and he missed it!! He was rather upset to see me snatch it up right next to him!! Went into the car park and grabbed 2 receipts that were just floating around - also found a brand new eye liner pencil! Came home and just checked the receipts - one of which churned out a coupon for £2.15!! Score! So for just a little effort today I have managed to bring £2.26 into the household. This may not seem like a lot but if I could do that everyday, it would mean shaving £15.82 off our weekly groceries, or £822.64 off what we spend annually for food. Think I'll stop by A$da on the way home again tomorrow!Credit Card Freedom gained 14 Feb 2014!!Total Debt Freedom gained 29 Apr 2014!!Savings goal 30/9/23: £72,000/£538,001.....yes I'm serious!Total Debt August 2013: [STRIKE]$21,587[/STRIKE] April 2014: $0!!!!:j0

Hmmm. So it has just dawned on me this evening that the US is 2 days away from announcing whether or not they will be defaulting. If they do, we may well see a drop in the dollar against the pound.....which would work nicely in my favour to repay my debts. As desperate as I am to make the payment tomorrow, I am now wondering if I should wait it out. Although I would then be losing money in keeping the daily balance on the cc higher and it would be a bit of a gamble I suppose to see if an gain on exchange would offset the additional interest.
Any of my DFWs a bit more clued up on this?Credit Card Freedom gained 14 Feb 2014!!Total Debt Freedom gained 29 Apr 2014!!Savings goal 30/9/23: £72,000/£538,001.....yes I'm serious!Total Debt August 2013: [STRIKE]$21,587[/STRIKE] April 2014: $0!!!!:j0 -
Well, I slept on it and figured I wanted the debt down so I have just transferred the money and am waiting for it to hit my bank account. Can you believe that UK PayPal is virtually instantaneous whereas it takes 3-4 days in the US! Yeah, don't go thinking they are always ahead of us! I found that out the hard way when I moved there! Although they do have drive thru banking which I think is the coolest invention....well.....ever!
So now I wait for it to hit my account and then I can pay it off the cc. I cannot wait to see it hit that balance!
Hubby found out he can't start his second job until November so that's a bit of a bummer but it's still going to be extra pennies starting next month. Happy about that!
The plan for today is to spend nothing other than what it costs to ship my last EBay package, look for roadkill and see if we can womble some receipts this evening. I should have listed some auctions at the weekend but couldn't be bothered. Really need to get off my @r$e and do it this weekend. But for now, it's chill out, pay the bills, and see what pennies the Universe wants to send our way!Lots of love and luck to all my fellow DFWs.

Well it is already my lucky day: One bright, shiny 5p found lying in the middle of the train station! I watched 2 people walk over it and even those sitting a nearby benches ignored it. I do find this amazing but I'm not going to complain. Their loss, my gain quite literally. I scooped it up and then realised I was even on time to catch the earlier train! hey HOK3Y!
I think you did the right thing paying the money back rather than hesitating to see if the dollar drops because I think if the dollar drops we'll all drop a bit so it won't be so great a difference not when it used to be 2 dollars to the pound!!!! The good old days!! :rotfl:
And well done on the change!!! dunno how you do it!
PS - the idea of drive-in banks!! Love it - but are you permitted to ride your horse through?
