Well trolley lolly is our new favourite game!
I woke this morning and quickly scanned my FB page. I don't spend much time there anymore - I much prefer to be here - but something really caught me this morning. I don't know if any of you follow Caden Beggan's page but his father is the most superb writer and he left a message today on what would have been Caden's 7th birthday. The entire message is sublime but a couple of lines really hit home:
"No one in their right mind plans to succumb to sorrow any more than they foresee the blows of a masked assailant sprung from the shadows. It is the nature of grief to lay waste to the unguarded heart. It is idiocy to assume you can withstand the assault alone."
I think this is so poignant. I also think it applies to debt - we are often ambushed by our debts, not realizing how far we are down a bad road until it is too late. It can be a horrendous and crippling situation. Coming here and having the support of others has been crucial in my journey and I would imagine in others. Thank you to everyone who has offered their support to me here and I will endeavor to reach out to others who are struggling and afraid. Together we are strong.
Happy Monday to you all - tomorrow is a new month and closer to our DFD!!!Credit Card Freedom gained 14 Feb 2014!!Total Debt Freedom gained 29 Apr 2014!!Savings goal 30/9/23: £72,000/£538,001.....yes I'm serious!Total Debt August 2013: [STRIKE]$21,587[/STRIKE] April 2014: $0!!!!:j0 -
I have just read your diary in between taking notes for an essay.
So both bits have been done in bite size chunks.
Well done on the positivity
I think you must be Tigger to my Eeyore though. Or maybe you are my cat to Marvin the Paranoid Andoid....Not said to offend
Good luck with your goals, sometimes you have to dare to soar

Slightly concerning note: I had forgotten our car's MOT is due and when it did dawn on me, I figured it was mid-month, after my payday.........er, not exactly.........it's due on the 3rd!!! So have saved £25 booking online into Halfords and now just need to hope there's nothing wrong with it!
Hey HOK3Y, just a word of advice on this. Not saying it will happen, but I once booked a cut price MOT with Kwik Fit and when I went to collect the guys words were "It needs new tyres". I duly instructed him to replace the tyres and when I collected it and he gave me the certificate I found out that the tyres were actually only an advisory and not a failure item. So make sure you ask them specifically "Has it failed" and get them to show you the failure certificate before you instruct any work to be done. I was naive and got taken advantage of. I'm sure it won't happen but I'm always dubious now when booking a cut price MOT as surely they've got to make their money somewhere.0 -
No offence taken, chevalier - thanks for stopping by!
I can't lie and say I am never without my low moments but I am definitely bubbly for the most part. I am well aware that some people struggle with that and some people enjoy it - I just try to be sensitive and give people who find me a bit too perky a little breathing room!
Ooooohhh. That is good to know wegle, thank you. I did not know to ask if it has failed before saying yes. I think it needs some work but nothing that should fail an MOT but it will have to wait until mid-month payday if possible. Yikes, I'm going to fill Mr HOK3Y in when I get home. It's just one of those sneaky things that some places do. The tyres did need replacing, but not that day and not by kwik fit. If he had told me it was an advisory I would have taken the car away and had the tyres replaced much cheaper elsewhere but he gave the impression that it had failed and if you don't get the work done there and then you have to pay for a re-test so that's why I instructed them to do it.
Luckily I've got a great mechanic now that I trust completely and he offers a small discount on MOTs as he is the testing centre for all the council vehicles so he doesn't have any ulterior motive or any need to make extra money from joe public. He even changed my lightbulb for free when I had a total girl moment and couldn't work out how to get the housing off!! :rotfl:0 -
Well I wouldn't have thought to ask so I really appreciate you sharing with me. I can't afford new tyres or anything else that's a few hundred quid.....well I can but I'd rather not!
