Yup and given I've mostly been too tired/lazy to run and swim as often as I was doing before I started work again

Work *is* tiring, though the initial burst of absolute tiredness that working in a new job brings should be diminishing by now.

Don't give me that embarrassed smiley. At least you can and will get on top of it straight away. Nobody can criticise you for that.

Certainly not me - that would require my hypocrisy to be of a level banned by the UN...

So my challenge for the next two weeks is to actually get back in to the habit of exersizing, and job hunting properly again.

The exersizing may very well take the shape of dragging my Dad out for a walk round the reservior some evenings instead of running it but at least I'll be gettin us both off our backsides.

Well that's probably what I'll be doing (well, not with my Dad in tow) once I get back to work. Also go for walks around the industrial estate. It's not fantastic, but it's exercise.

I did also mention lazy right? :p

It's just annoying that I let myself fall back in to old habits so easily, I think I've put back on as much weight as I'd managed to lose since my holiday in January. Still its summer so eating salad isn't too horrendous for a couple of weeks to kick start getting rid of it again, and I do tend to eat fairly well while I'm away, lots of water, salads and I'll be swimming every day at the beach again.

I really just need to get back in to the habit of going for a run even if I only do the 1 mile or 1.5 mile routes, running home from work when I was down south is how I lost most of the weight originally and that was only a 1.5 mile run every night (after walking to work at lunchtime).

I can also think about walking at lunchtimes at work too - its under a mile to the retail park so there's no good reason not to walk up there and back occasionally .

You'll just have to lose it again. Or replace it with the muscle you don't like... ;)

I see you're a fan of salad. Someone wisely said: "Salad isn't food. Salad is what food eats..." :rotfl:

You can't really do much more than that - eat health, drink health and exercise. I take it you're not a "lie on the beach and fry" sort of person?

Every little helps - as they say. Getting out in the evening would also be good. The nights are not going to be as short as they are for some time.

I can lie on the beach and fry. As long as I've my kindle/a cocktail/ its too rough to swim in the sea. Generally though no I can't do doing with just sitting damaging my skin, much prefer to be wandering around the village, or around the coastal path the next village over, its just frustrating that generally I find it's too hot during the day to do that in Summer so I end up spending alot of the day on the balcony reading or wandering to and from the apartment complex pool until the sun is gone from the balcony and I can talk someone in to coming to the beach with me so I can go for a swim in the sea without them worrying I'll drown without an audience.

There's a reason why the siesta was invented...

You don't find the pool an adequate substitute to the sea?

Because it's de rigeur to have an audience while drowning. Obviously.... ;)

I've tried surfing I don't have the balance to cope, plus the beach in the village is notourious for its rips so when it's rough its not safe to be in or on the water at all.

Siesta is fine but I rarely wake up until mid morning when I've nothing to do on holiday, and even I can't get up have breakfast/lunch a quick swim in the pool then go back to sleep!

The complex pool is only around 15m long at its longest point so I just get bored trying to swim in it, occasionally we'll go camp out at the pool in one of the timeshare/aparthotels, but as most are going all inclusive now it's getting quite hard to spend any time there without security noticing and asking us to leave.

I suspect it's more they think if there's noone there keeping an eye on me I'll drown, not that I know quite what my family would do about it given Mum's usually got her kindle and is paying me no attention what so ever.

That would put a big downer on it.

I'd guess you'd spend more of your time turning than doing anything else.

Or even if she was paying attention. Perhaps she has a rubber ring ready to throw you just haven't noticed. Do the rest of the family swim - or just watch?

If I tried harder to sleep more I think I'd never wake up!

Pretty much and turning gets pretty monotonous although it's good for the legs kicking off all the time.

Not really, my sister swims when she has to but on holiday her limit is a few laps of the pool and maybe a quick paddle in the sea if the waves aren't too big that day. Mum isn't a confident or strong swimmer so won't go near the sea, and I've no idea if my Aunt can even swim!

Now that's strange. I've always found the sea easier to swim in than a pool. That's the salt water making you (or rather me) buoyant.

Do they all just go on holiday and read?

Throwing her in would be preferable at times. But she just doesnt enjoy being in the water like I do - she tends to spend her time when we're on holiday sunbathing next to the pool and going in for a quick swim to cool off.

Mum will sit and read in the sun or wander around the village when it's cooler.

When we first started going out there we did all the tourist stuff and were pretty active during the day now less so, but I get fidgetty if I'm in the apartment/on the balcony all day hence the attempts to drag someone to the beach so I can swim and burn off some of the energy.

I really ought to get back in touch with some of the dive centres out there and start diving while I'm on holiday again but it's so expensive so I've just not been able to afford it the last few times I've been out there, used to be so easy to call my friend who lived there and ran his own dive centre and go get underwater in the places he wouldn't take most of his customers, or less fun the dives when he was leading a dive with relatively inexperienced divers and I was on a freebie boat dive to help look after them with him.
